[Brought to you by . CODE READYORNOT15 gets you 15% off] OUT NOW: Sharina Simnett on doing work and motherhood her way

Sharina Simnett has been one of the biggest supporters of Ready or Not. So when Yoto wanted to work with Ready or Not again, it became immediately obvious to us that we needed to get Sharina on to share her story of burnout, motherhood, how she judged mums in the workplace before she became one, and what’s surprised her as someone who was career-obsessed before kids.

Here, we cover how much her relationship with ambition has changed, the anxiety that came with a severe period of burnout, how she defines success now, the hack that means work life doesn’t bleed into parenting life, and what she’d go back and tell her pre-motherhood self about the journey she has embarked on.

SURPRISE! We have a very special bonus interview episode coming out tomorrow (Wednesday) with Sharina Simnett; one of .pod’s biggest supporters to date (we have the DM receipts to show for it!), a mum of two, and ’s Country Manager (Aus & NZ).

Tomorrow, we cover how much her relationship with ambition has changed, the anxiety that came with a severe period of burnout, how she defines success now, the hack that means work life doesn’t bleed too much into parenting life, and what she’d go back and tell her pre-motherhood self about the journey she has embarked on.

Another special interview on motherhood & career is coming to .pod tomorrow, with the sharp and sincere .

On Wednesday, we talk about why she can’t understand people that don’t identify as feminists, the discomfort that lies in being completely out of control when, before kids, we become accustomed to trying our best to control everything, what it’s been like to navigate a public role that requires you to be sharp and presentable, when motherhood can make you feel the exact opposite, and why she now understands the cliche that to raise a teenage son is to experience the slowest breakup imaginable.

Is this a sales pitch? It sorta feels like one. But we’ve been having a lot of conversations like this recently, so here’s your reminder that even if you’re not engaged in paid work, even if you don’t have kids, and even if you don’t normally gravitate towards parenting podcasts, you’re welcome here. Heck, you may even enjoy coming on the ride!

When paid work and motherhood collide: “In 2016 I was shooting season one of
with a 3 month old and a 2 year old at home. I was using my actual breast pump for the show and so the milk you see on screen came straight from the source! Real talk, this was a very hard year thanks to postpartum... But looking back on it, I feel so incredibly proud of what we accomplished!” —
