We were so proud to capture this story with the Heart Foundation on Thursday Island, showcasing the incredible Kaziw Meta Pedal Power program, winner of the 2024 Active Australia Innovation Challenge.

Seventy boarding school students were given bikes, helmets and racks, opening up new ways to get around, stay active and connect with each other. Huge thanks to everyone involved for welcoming us so warmly. 💛

We were so happy to be part of this incredible Heart Foundation project on Thursday Island, a true pinch me moment for our DoP, Emel.

Capturing the joy, energy and pure excitement of the Kaziw Meta kids as they rode their bikes was something we won’t forget anytime soon. From interviews with local guardians to high fives with the kids, it was an honour to help share their story.

We’re sneaking in this post because we know Matt would never post it himself, but we couldn’t let it go uncelebrated!

Earlier this month, Matt was recognised as a finalist for the South Metro Junior Football League Volunteer of the Year Award, nominated by the Ormond Junior Football Club. The award ceremony at Moorabbin Town Hall brought together 500 people to acknowledge the incredible efforts of community volunteers.

His dedication to the club this season has been nothing short of inspiring, with highlights including:
- Driving a 35% growth in female participation through social media strategy
- Boosting the club’s online presence
- Supporting grant applications
- Creating football cards for female players
- Capturing key education and welfare programs
- Volunteering as trainer for the U13s

A huge congratulations to Matt, a true community legend who gives so much of his time and energy to the game and to those around him 💙
