We are very excited about our progress at The Box. Things are good.

If you’re keen to come down to our chilled-out Friday night car hang, comment “GRIDNIGHT” for info. And if you’d like to enquire about storage, send us a message and we’ll give you a ring.

Before he had even seen the R34 GT-R he had just bought, I was driving it through Tokyo.

This was one of those experiences that I still do not fully know how to put into words.

A mate back in Melbourne said yes to this mint, white, 45,000 kilometre V-Spec II and got it registered and ready to drive while I was in Tokyo. He trusted me to collect it, put some kilometres on it and enjoy a day shooting around the city before it heads to Mine’s for a full build.

For someone who has spent years decoding old Japanese magazines, watching grainy Best Motoring footage and working towards the very unlikely goal of owning one, it felt completely unreal.

Tsukuba. Tatsumi. C1. Tokyo Tower at sunset. The whole day felt like I had walked straight into the part of car culture that made me fall in love with all of this.

Thank you so much Luca

I am back in Japan next month and will be driving it again after the build. I cannot wait to show you what Mine’s does with it.

If you are here for R34s, Japan and the stories behind them, stick around.

It’s Not Mine - Episode 30: Aston Martin DBX S

I’m thrown the keys to the best press cars on the market, and the number one question I get is “how long have you had it?” to which I reply “it’s not mine”, hence the series’ title.

As someone who’s always wondered what the latest and greatest performance cars are like, it’s time to look back and tell you honestly if they’re worth it.

This week we feature the Aston Martin Melbourne DBX S

What do you think?

I was one of two Aussies that Ford took with them to Le Mans - and what a week it was.

Even a few months on I still can’t believe it happened. It was a lifelong dream to get myself to La Sarthe and it doesn’t feel real it happened after only a couple years doing this. Still feeling very grateful Ford Australia

The point of this post is to show you that you can do it. Whatever it is you wanna do. Put in the work, be kind, don’t stop. Good things will happen.

Can’t wait to see the Ford Racing Hypercar in action next year.

NEW LONG-FORM VID LIVE NOW! Nearly 3.5 months ago, Sam and I got the keys to The Box and began work on building our car enthusiast hub.

Our vision with The Box is for it to encapsulate all aspects of being a car enthusiast - from storage, maintenance in our workshop, detailing, events in-house and outside, like our Cars and Coffees, Drive Days and Track Days.

It gives four walls to 2PJZ, Stay Driven and Laag Media, and we’ve found a way to make all of them work harmoniously. But running so many different businesses as two guys has meant it’s been 12h+ days for at least six days a week over the last three months. Not that we’re complaining, but it’s been a mammoth effort, and we couldn’t still be standing on two feet if it wasn’t for the people tagged in this set.

From our partners Erin and Jess, to friends and our wicked community, seeing people come through to our now six hosted events has been a total joy and reminds us exactly why we do it.

Tonight’s long-form vid gives you our first candid sit down of the space - how we got here, how we get by, what it costs, why we do it, what’s the plan and overall, what’s the mission.

Appreciate your continued support. Next Grid Night is this Friday and Cars and Coffee coming up on Sunday September 20 at Morris Moor.

Enjoy an update on what’s new here.

New cars joining us in storage. We’re only aiming for about 35 cars for now as we want to keep some of the floor open for events, and to provide a high level of concierge service to our clients.

Erin is very much enjoying the new Michelin decorations đź’™

One of 20 limited edition FK8s living with us is a treat. For sale if you’re a real big Honda enjoyer.

The back room is slowly being built into a co-working area, which will be available to clients and as a separate membership. For now, we sorted a new coffee table to house the Team 18 Supercars wheel they kindly dropped off. And shoutout Posterized for making this E34 M5 Touring poster I requested for Sam’s birthday. Insane detail and skill to recreate the brochure from scratch.

Coffee machine area is now proper. Along with our much-loved Redbull fridge, we’re pumping espressos

I decided to go custom for the Jazz’s coilovers and here’s what we did.

One month in I’m stoked with the Shockworks set-up. Not only was it an awesome day hanging out with Tim and learning heaps, but the product is fantastic. Each kit is handbuilt in-house and tailored to the use case of your car.

Highly reccomend going to see the team if you’re in need of a proper set-up for your car. I’ll definitely be back for future acquisitions.

Let me know any questions you may have and head to the long-form channel to see more of the process of getting the Jazz show ready.

It was a pleasure to host Garage IMMI at The Box yesterday for a Mugen cars and coffee and celebration of Melbourne’s wild Honda scene.

This sort of event is the exact vision Sam and I had when we were workshopping ideas for our enthusiast hub, and being a massive Honda enthusiast, it was a real honour to be able to host an official Mugen event in our space.

The Honda community is amazing. So dedicated, friendly, respectful of the space and our surrounding areas - which we filled up with a few blocks of street parked cars - and each other.

I loved chatting about the Jazz with everyone who came down and getting my 90% complete Mugen kit on display (just need side skirts) and sharing the space with you.

A huge thanks to Milton and the Garage Immi team for hosting their event with us. Hit them up if you’re after some Mugen goodies for your build.

We’re looking forward to hosting many more larger events like these. If you’re keen to come and see what we’re about, all our events are posted on the Stay Driven website and updated weekly.

If you’re in need of storage, servicing and mods or detailing - we now provide all of that and more in house. Send us a message and come say hi.

Our next Melbourne cars and coffee is here!

Comment “PARK” to secure a guaranteed spot. We want to bring you bigger and better community events, and to help with venue hire costs, we’re offering a small fee for each car that wants a spot in the curated display. Our last two events sold out indoor parking pretty fast, so get in quick.

Inside we’ll also have the first public showing of Stay Driven C5 for you to try on and secure.

Outside, we have limited free spots available for anyone who wants to come down, but if you don’t want to display your car, please park on Cochranes Road, as space is at a premium.

⏰ Sunday, 20 September | 8am-11am
📍 Enter off Cochranes Rd, Moorabbin 3189
(Put Holey Moley in your maps to find it easier)

See you there, and PLEASE no hooning, burnouts or other stupid behaviour. Police will be notified of the event, and we want to maintain the positive status of our events.

Share this around, and let’s get an epic turnout!

Picking up one of the fastest SUVs in the world.

This is the Aston Martin DBX S I had for a few days. It’s powered by a four-litre twin turbo V8 that punches out 717 horsepower and 900Nm of torque.

Thanks for throwing me the keys Aston Martin Melbourne

I looked at over 6 stores for this car…

During my last trip I had saved Boost Gear Komaki for future reference. They’re actually one of the few Japanese model shops to ship worldwide. I didn’t expect to find this DC2 in the shop but was glad I did.

Comment “PLAYBOOK” for my full Japan car travel guide that packs everything I’ve been researching over the last decade, plus my two trips, to help you get a proper automotive experience.
