7pm on Wednesday September 30th Roslyn Oades and I will be presenting some of the ideas and approaches we use and grapple with in our respective practices. It's a free session (registration required) held at Arts Centre Melbourne in their educational hub called 'The Channel' which is located on the outside of Hamer Hall.

Mother, written by Daniel Keene, performed by the amazing Noni Hazlehurst, directed by Matt Scholten, and designed by Kat Chan, Tom Willis, and Darius Kedros previews today, and opens tomorrow at Arts Centre Melbourne. Its a good one.
The sound world consists largely of field recordings by Darius Kedros of various Melbourne streets and locations including St Fidelis Catholic Church in Coburg, the Upfield Railway Line, pet rats, and a cast of hundreds of birds.

THIS opens Friday night here in Melbourne as part of Rising 2023. It's a site specific theatre show - an anarchic ride into hell, layered, and chaotic, and not for the faint hearted. Directed by David Woods of Ridiculusmus Theatre, and featuring a cast of thousands, an ex-power station in Richmond, lights by Richard Paul Vabre, set by Eloise Kent, plus 27 speaker, immersive sound design by Darius Kedros of Sonic State Design.

Devolving, shaming and space-invading. Fear, conspiracy, collapse, terror, frustration, solidarity and hope. Mud wrestling. THIS is a brutally funny, raw and unflinching response to the theme of infuriation.

For the last few months we've been having the best fun recording and sound designing the audio comedy fiction drama series at The Garden Studio.
The dialogue was recorded at The Garden Studio in June 2022 with the ace cast comprising some of Melbourne's finest comedians & actors Annie Lumsden, Andrea Mendez, Lena Moon, Sunanda, Scott Limbrick, Isha Menon, and Ben Russell.
Foley was also recorded here in the Brunswick West, Melbourne studio, and the sound design was created and mixed here by .kedros for Sonic State Design

Original music by Jack Lewis.

So good to see this independent, fun, q***r as f*** space caper shooting straight up the podcast charts all over the English speaking world 😊

Here's a project that's been in development for over a year! Heart VR, a theatre / virtual reality hybrid. A dream come true for Darius Kedros to finally work with the amazing theatre director minds of Christian Leavesley and Jolyon James at Arena Theatre Company on a project. Huge props to Lachlan Sleight for his amazing Unity skills, and big thanks to the rest of the Arena team and the technical crew.
Also big thanks to Melbourne Theatre Company and University of Melbourne for the inital VR in theatre research project that spawned this beautiful experience that opened yesterday at Bendigo PRIDE Festival. Photo credit Jolyon James.

We’re excited to be Sound Designing the new Australian musical MY BRILLIANT CAREER. The musical is based on the novel and film and this musical adaption has been written for the stage by Dean Bryant and Mathew Frank.

The world premier production has been made possible by the Jeanne Pratt Musical Theatre Artists In Residence program supported by the Pratt Foundation and produced by the Monash Academy of Performing Arts as part of their MLIVE program.

We’ve been involved with the program since it started three years ago with Sound Design for the new Australian musicals ‘JACK OF TWO TRADES” and “THE DRESSMAKER”.

Our team from LSS Productions includes Sound Design by Marcello Lo Ricco, Sound Operator/Head of Sound Josh Mattielli and Radio Microphone Technician Dillan Willding.

Soundscapes for the production have been Sound Deigned by Darius Kedros from Sonic State Design.

Thrilled to be nominated in the Music Composition and Sound Design category for independent theatre in the 2019 Green Room Awards. The work was created for a poignant and of the moment play - Oil Babies by Petra Kalive.

Well that was a big year!
9 theatre seasons, 3 physical performance seasons, 4 VR projects, 1 film, 3 art installations, and 1 arts/science podcast, and that was just the big projects!

A huge thank you and congratulations to all the wonderful writers, directors, actors, cinematographers, technicians, stage managers, producers, LD’s & designers, it’s been an absolute pleasure.
