A who’s who of Australian television has gathered to celebrate 70 years since Aussies first switched on their TVs.

Stars past and present marked the milestone at 10’s old Nunawading studios, home to iconic shows including ‘Prisoner’, ‘Young Talent Time’, ‘Neighbours’ and, of course, 10 News.

Australian television began in black and white in 1956, before 10’s Nunawading studios delivered the country’s first colour broadcast in 1975.

Tony Mokbel could be in line for a payout estimated at around $50 million over assets seized by police following his drug convictions.

The 61-year-old forfeited more than $15 million in property and possessions, including a Ferrari, after he was first convicted.

Several of those convictions have since been overturned over the use of barrister Nicola Gobbo as a police informant.

Mokbel is now seeking a previously secret police document as he prepares to pursue the return of seized assets and potential damages.

Self-described “Christian nationalist” senator Ralph Babet has launched his own “Australia first” clothing line, but the merchandise is largely made overseas.

The range features Australian flags alongside provocative political and religious slogans, including “zero testosterone detected” over an image of the Prime Minister and claims the world is controlled by “Satanic paedophiles”.

Despite previously calling for greater support for Australian manufacturing, Babet says his products are made in South America and Asia because producing them locally is too expensive.
