A car was deliberately driven into a Mentone to***co store and set alight late Friday night, sparking a fierce blaze that tore through the two-storey building and forced nearby residents to flee.

Dozens of firefighters battled the inferno for more than an hour before bringing it under control, as the building partially collapsed.

Police say it’s the third targeted attack on the shop in six weeks, with at least three offenders seen fleeing in two vehicles.

No one was injured, but neighbouring businesses remain closed as investigators sift through the wreckage.

The Premier has paid tribute to Carrie Bickmore's dedication to brain cancer fundraising, after the Gold Logie winner was named as the 2026 Australian of the Year for Victoria.

The radio presenter and former host of The Project has raised more than $27 million dollars for brain cancer research since 2015.

Bickmore set up the Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation in memory of her late husband, Greg Lange, who died from the disease in 2010.

Bickmore also established The Brain Cancer Centre in 2021 to bring together the brightest minds in research to find a cure.
