This week a beautiful and fitting celebration of the life of the late Daryl Jackson AO, was shared with family, friends and colleagues at the MCG.

Held overlooking the Great Southern Stand (known as Melbourne’s lounge room) which Daryl designed in the 1990s, the gathering was a reminder of his extraordinary contribution to the city, Australia and the international architectural community.

Recipient of the Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 1987, among many other honours, Daryl leaves behind a remarkable legacy through his buildings and his generous public life.

Jeff recently visited the exhibition “Beleza Apesar de Tudo” (“Beauty in Spite of All”) showcasing the work of Aires Mateus, presented in the Architecture Gallery designed by Siza at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Lisbon.

The exhibition spans almost 40 years of practice, featuring models, drawings, sketches and images from 71 completed projects, alongside a number of unbuilt works and competition entries.

Australian projects included among the exhibited works were the recently completed Mori House in Mount Martha; a collaboration with MA+Co and Neometro, as well as an unbuilt Nura Rye House.

The exhibition is proposed to travel elsewhere in Europe in the future, so keep a look out if you’re on that side of the world!

Out and about in St Kilda East and the surrounding suburbs for our project 97 Alma Road. Some of our earliest projects were developed and built in this area of Melbourne and we’ve been enjoying spending time connecting with future residents who love this neighbourhood as much as we do.
