National Foundation Day, held annual on 3 October, is a national holiday in Korea, commemorating the foundation of the first Korean kingdom in 2333 BCE. Armed Forces Day, held annually on 1 October, is a day commemorating the recapture of the 38th parallel by Korean forces in 1950 during the Korean War and honouring the service and sacrifice of Korea’s military.
The event brought together government representatives and the Korean business community in Australia to commemorate Korea’s history, resilience and ongoing commitment to peace and security. Distinguished guests at this event included Hon. Peter Khalil MP, Assistant Minister for Defence, and Katherine McMahon, CEO, National Museum Australia.
This event also featured vibrant cultural performance, including a dynamic dance performance to ‘Golden’ from K-Pop Demon Hunters, reflecting the strong influence and popularity of K-culture in Australia.
