A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our sold out event - the Australia-Korea Women in Lead-Her-Ship in Sydney! 🇦🇺🇰🇷

Your participation helped make this event a powerful platform for exploring the evolving Australia–Korea relationship, with a strong focus on female leadership and cultural diversity.

Some powerful takeaways from our inspiring speakers (and invaluable advice):

☑️ “Call me “Hyung” from today. We are “Mates” now. It is not our fault that biases blinds people. But it is our personal choice to get back UP, to stand tall, to be seen as a leader.” — Heejung Cecilia Lim, Partner - Eastpoint Partners and AKBC Industry Experts Panel member
☑️ “It’s meaningless if you end up the first and the last.” — Elizabeth Lee MLA, Member for Kurrajong, ACT Legislative Assembly
☑️ “Leadership is something you do for others.” — Emma Gingell, Director, Project, Export & Asset Finance, ANZ
☑️ “Leadership doesn’t come from authority - leadership comes from consistency and empathy.” — Linda Nguyen, Marketing Manager, CJ Foods Oceania

💡 Advice from our speakers:
Go back to basics – entrench a sense of belonging in your organisation.
— Emma Gingell, Director, Project, Export & Asset Finance, ANZ
Don’t wait or ask for permission – lead where you are now.
— Linda Nguyen, Marketing Manager, CJ Foods Oceania
Stay true to your true purpose.
— Elizabeth Lee MLA, Member for Kurrajong, ACT Legislative Assembly

Together, their insights remind us that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about service, empathy, and consistency. Whether you're stepping in for the first time or stepping up again, these perspectives highlight where real influence begins.

🙏 Special thanks to all our incredible speakers, panellists, and government representatives for sharing their wisdom and inspiring us all:

Following the success of their kimbap and mandu, CJ CheilJedang’s bibigo brand has launched a new Korean-style Fried Chicken range in Australia. It’s available now at Woolworths and will hit IGA shelves next month. Head to your local supermarket to try their two delicious flavours: sweet & spicy, or soy & honey.

On 18 July, our CEO, Liz Griffin, participated in two panel discussions at Connecting Hydrogen APAC (CHA2025) and Connecting Carbon Capture (CCAS2025) in Melbourne.

🔹 Korea’s shift from nuclear to renewable energy and the implications for regional energy strategies
🔹 Opportunities for Australia–Korea hydrogen trade, supported by resilient export and supply chain infrastructure
🔹 The critical role of public–private partnerships in accelerating the deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCUS) technologies
🔹 The steps Australia must take to remain a reliable long-term energy supplier to Korea and global markets
🔹 The importance of maintaining Australia’s energy security amid growing international demand for a green transition

As hydrogen and CCUS continue to gain momentum, cross-border cooperation is critical to realising a net-zero future.

As the leading organisation strengthening Australia–Korea economic ties, we are proud to advocate for stronger Australia–Korea cooperation to lead the clean energy transition. 🇦🇺🇰🇷

Who likes Samgyetang? At the AKBC, we are all foodies and love to the find the best Korean restaurant around Australia.

Jiho Hanbang Samgyetang, a South Korean chain restaurant made its global debut in Sydney CBD in February 2025 and lines have been forming outside of its doors ever since! This is a testament to the growing love of Korean food and culture in Australia, with big Korean food brands entering the Australian market.

Samgyetang 삼계탕 is a traditional Korean soup made with a whole chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, ginseng, garlic, jujube, and other medicinal herbs, typically eaten in summer to boost energy and stamina.

Following the opening of the official Koreatown in Melbourne, Korean culture is flourishing across Australia—reflected in everything from entertainment, culture to food.

Try Samgyetang at your next visit to a Korean restaurant and share us your experiences!
