๐ March welcomes the commencement of International Wheelchair Day, a celebration initiated by author Steve Wilkinson in 2008.
Born in 1953 with Spina Bifida, Wilkinson's lifelong use of a wheelchair has been marked by a positive outlook and an unwavering determination to conquer challenges. Over the past two decades, he has been a tireless advocate for improved accessibility for individuals with mobility issues.
The core of this day is to honor the freedom provided by wheelchairs. Since 2012, the Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Kathmandu, Nepal, has been instrumental in expanding this annual event globally, fostering unity among wheelchair users across the world.
๐ Let's celebrate the resilience and positive spirit of wheelchair users. Each year, we gather to embrace the freedom, empowerment, and endless possibilities that wheelchairs bring.
