Freelance Overnight News Cameraperson's – Melbourne
We are looking for Melbourne/Victorian based freelance ENG camera operators. This is a unique role where you will be covering the 100km radius of Melbourne’s CBD for all news incidents/events. The hours you will be expected to cover are from 8pm to 6am plus overtime when circumstances warrant it. You will be working for BlackStar Productions and will be supplying all the major news networks and affiliates their overnight news vision for their breakfast, midday and evening news programs. ( Ch 7, Ch 9, Ch 10 and ABC)
All the camera gear, scanners, car and a phone is supplied.
Your roles will largely include
*Listening to scanners and choosing what events to cover. Training will be provided to teach you the types of events to cover.
*Basic interviewing skills for emergency service spokes people and eye witnesses at scenes . This is mandatory and training will be provided.
*Supplying a rundown to network COS of your shifts key movements through at end of shift through email.
*Must hold a current drives licence.
Understand you will be working alone and you need to be confident and efficient at chasing the right stories for the networks to run the next day.
We are looking for people that are first and foremost reliable.
We would like people to already have ENG camera experience so regional ENG camera operators looking to make their way into the metro news arena are encouraged to apply.
