On a hot Australian summer night, a local cypher invites breakers around the neighbourhood. Malekai battles his best friend, Hung, in hopes to grab the respect of his peers. When the competition gets out of hand, Malekai feels he has more to prove than his talent as a dancer.

We’re so happy to announce the Melbourne premiere of The Water of the Womb will be at the 20th anniversary of The Other Film Festival on the 18th of September at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).
Following the premiere on the big screen, The Water of the Womb will be available to watch online via the ACMI Cinema 3 website for the duration of the festival.

I am very excited to announce the Melbourne premiere of The Water of the Womb at the 20th year anniversary of The Other Film Festival!

The Other Film Festival (TOFF) is a ground-breaking disability-led program that places Deaf and Disabled people at the centre of the Australian screen industry. TOFF started in 2004 and is Australia’s first international disability film festival. TOFF is a leader in the global disability screen advocacy movement.

Tickets to the premiere event are available via Humantix at the following link: https://events.humanitix.com/toff-20-years

Following the premiere at ACMI - Federation Square the film will be available with the rest of the festival program to screen via ACMI Cinema 3 (Online Screening) for the duration of September.

Thank you again to all of the cast and crew who contributed their time, love and nurture to help make this project what it was. During a period of intense change, battling a series of medical traumas, and grieving the loss of my mother this work came out like a war cry to resist the oppression of circumstance and continue creating with a full heart and open mind.

Thank you to the programming team at Arts Access Victoria and The Other Film Festival for giving us the chance to share our work on the silver screen!

The film will premiere during the 24th edition of the Izmir International Short Film Festival, as part of their Panorama short film program.
