Christopher Boots

Christopher Boots Material and metaphysical exploration since 11-11-11. The Christopher Boots studio was founded on the principle of “Fiat Lux”: Let there be Light.

Established 11-11-11 through metaphysical and material exploration of quartz crystal, the studio gave birth to creating lighting with a signature aesthetic: exploring relationships between nature, architecture, symbology, geometry and geology, offering contemporary interpretations of structure, symmetry and pattern. All works are handmade with love and care by a diverse team of skilled artisans. C

ollaborations with glass blowers, bronze foundries, sculptors, metal smiths and stone masons ensure a commitment to quality, underscoring an investigative sensibility, giving birth to a series of illuminating collections both alluring and unexpectedly visceral. The studio designs, prototypes and builds in Melbourne, Australia, honouring traditional elements of form, proportion and scale, marrying traditional and cutting edge materials with various techniques, creating future collectibles designed for transforming architecture. The work of the studio has been displayed at Hermès, Rossana Orlandi, National Gallery of Victoria, Parliament House, Cassina, amongst countless private collections in New York, Dubai, Tokyo, Moscow and Paris. Collaborating with architects, interior designers and private clients fuels the dialogue between worlds we all transverse.

Prometheus: the fire-bringer, the rebel, the Titan.

In ancient Greek mythology, Prometheus was a deity of foresight and cleverness, credited with shaping humanity from clay. But he is best known for defying Zeus by stealing fire from the gods and gifting it to humankind, an act that forever changed the human condition.

With fire came warmth, light, progress and the spark of civilisation. For this defiance, Prometheus was punished by being chained to a rock, where an eagle would consume his liver each day, only for it to regenerate overnight.

The PROMETHEUS collection takes his name, an ode to fire as a source of both creation and transformation.

Known for blurring boundaries between art and utility, husband and wife pair, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, who went by Les Lalanne, crafted whimsical and sensitive furniture that took the shape of animals, plants, and poetic abstractions from the 1960s until the early 00's.

Yves Saint Laurent and partner Pierre Bergé were early patrons of the pair, referring to them as kindred spirits. Their Paris home became a kind of private menagerie, filled with Les Lalanne’s quietly subversive works: a bronze rhinoceros that opened to reveal a writing desk, flocks of sheep doubling as seating, gilded birds, and vine-like chandeliers.

Humorous and deeply elegant, functional and fantastical, Les Lalanne’s creations continue to challenge how we define luxury and design. Pieces that live between sculpture and domesticity. Pieces that make you smile.

An elegant, contemporary dining space with an Art Deco edge.

Clean architectural lines are softened by the warm glow of IRIS. A pared-back linear pendant featuring stepped alabaster cups, echoing the silhouette of the newly released THEIA.

Refined yet understated, IRIS brings quiet structure and sculptural clarity to the setting. A thoughtful balance of form, function, and atmosphere.

20/06/2025

The June Solstice arrives quietly, marking our shortest day and longest night here in the Southern Hemisphere. From this point forward, the light begins its slow return, even if we don’t feel it just yet. The Earth tilts, the Sun shifts, and something ancient in us senses the change.

This year, the Solstice feels especially poignant. In a world that often feels uncertain and overstimulated, this moment reminds us that some rhythms remain steady, celestial, unhurried, and reassuring. It’s a time to honour the quiet work of renewal, like the way seeds lie dormant before they bloom.

To mark this Solstice, one might light a candle at dusk and sit for a while without distraction, reflect on what to bring warmth to in the months ahead, spend time with people who help you feel grounded, or open the windows to let even the faintest sunlight in, as an offering to hope.

In the dark, we remember the light.
In stillness, we remember what matters.

May this Solstice bring you a sense of steadiness, renewal, and connection, wherever you are on the wheel of the year.

Hilma af Klint, the spiritualist and unknown pioneer of abstract art. Long before Kandinsky or Mondrian were experimenting with abstraction, she was painting huge, radiant works guided by spiritual belief, curiosity, and an unshakeable sense of purpose.

Keeping much of it hidden, believing the world wasn’t ready, she left behind more than 1,200 paintings and 26,000 pages of notes with instructions that they remain unseen for at least 20 years after her death.

Her practice - visionary, disciplined, and deeply intuitive - remains a touchstone. A reminder that beauty can be an act of devotion, and that sometimes the most important work happens long before anyone sees it.
