Thank you to everyone who filled out our form! To the person who said that you were distracted when watching the animatic (a timed version of a storyboard) because you dislike anime: you successfully confused all of us - well done.

Anyway, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to our characters in their debatably best form (image 1+2), I’ve included the actual render if you are interested. So going from left to right let's begin introductions.

First up we have Lola, this is the woman who's been in a coma for 63 years and in this photo, she actually has hair since this was taken before the coma incident - we made her bald in the animation or did KLA-RA shave her head out of impulse to make her less attractive to Tony we don’t know.

Next, we have Tony (or as we affectionately call him: “The Husband” since none of us can remember his name). Tony is Lola’s husband and the leading contender as to who placed her in her coma. Creepy. He dislikes dust so he leaves the caring to KLA-RA.

KLA-RA is our resident robotic nurse tasked with keeping Lola alive and well, though it seems she views “well” to be relatively subjective and prefers just to focus on the alive part. This may or may not be due to the obsessive attachment she has developed to her maker, Tony, and her distaste for Lola over all these years. Being stuck down in the basement taking care of a useless human has really done wonders for the deterioration of her programming. As you may be able to gather from the photograph of KLA-RA and Tony - Yes it is true, KLA-RA does secretly wish she was the only woman in Tony’s life - she’s possessive like that.

On Ice Synopsis:

Lola suddenly wakes at year 63 from a medically induced coma set to preserve her perfectly for 100 years in her basement with only a hostile robotic nurse, Kla-Ra, in attendance. Intent on achieving her freedom and finding her husband Lola attempts to start up the stairs. However, as she takes her first step, her nurse violently objects with warnings of the world above and begins preparations to send Lola back under. Lola must now decide whether her escape into the unknown is worth it as she attempts to inconspicuously inch round the room towards the stairs again while feigning compliance.

🎬 Welcome to "On Ice"! 🎥 We're thrilled to share our current project with you all. We're a passionate student animation group by the name of Plum Studios embarking on a thrilling journey with our short film. Follow Lola's gripping tale as she emerges from a coma to a chilling reality trapped in her own basement. In her confusion she meets Klara, a robotic nurse whose sole goal is to take care of her. Stakes rise as Lola decides to escape and Klara experiences increasingly hostile program glitches. Stay tuned for updates as we bring "On Ice" to life.
