Illustrator Seantelle Walsh and I are SUPER excited to share the cover of MY SUPER UNCLE, published by Ford Street Publishing - out 1 March 2026.

📚 My Super Uncle is a picture book that celebrates families whose structure extends beyond the nuclear unit. This story honours the importance of positive role models and chosen family in a child’s life - lighthouse figures who provide guidance, support and safety as they grow.

Written in playful rhyme, this story is told through the lens of a child who idolises her chosen uncle so much, she suspects he has superpowers.

Illustrations by CBCA-shortlisted illustrator and Noongar artist, Seantelle Walsh, are filled with vibrant colour, scenes that are entertaining and relatable for the target audience of 5-9-year-old children, and culturally significant details.

Themes of diversity, inclusion, family, community, respect, love and kindness are woven throughout the pages of this heartwarming celebration of family bonds and everyday heroes. 📚

UPDATE: David's just won the Peace Prize. Congrats, Metz!!

David Metzenthen’s The Truth of It has been shortlisted for the Peace Prize! The Children's Peace Literature Award is an Australian literary prize awarded every other year by the South Australian Psychologists for Peace, an interest group of the Australian Psychological Society.

The Winner’s announcement is this morning at noon today in Vic, but 11:30am in SA (best to check the time depending on where you are in Australia at the time).
