GirledWorld

GirledWorld girledworld is on a mission to change the game for girls. Reach out at www.girledworld.com or [email protected] girledworld was the solution.

We create opportunities for every young woman to build workforce skills, meet industry mentors and plan their future pathways. "If you want to change a generation you start with the girls." girledworld was launched through the University of Melbourne (Melbourne Business School) in 2016 when co-founders Madeleine Grummet and Edwina Kolomanski undertook a Master of Entrepreneurship and examined the

problem of low participation and high attrition rates of women in the current global workforce, and the critical role of entrepreneurship and STEM in the 21st century economy. Their combined research revealed a key insight: approaches to addressing digital skills, knowledge, diversity and gender deficits in the leadership, STEM, entrepreneurship and innovation domains weren’t working, and needed to be accelerated for Australia’s future economic survival. To date we’ve engaged with 40,000+ students and 200+ Australian schools and universities, leading global industries, Silicon Valley tech startups and outstanding female business mentors to give young women the real-world industry knowledge, enterprise skills and rockstar career role models they need to learn from so they can see what they can be, thrive in the future of work and step up to be the leaders of tomorrow. Our high-impact work has seen us feature in national media, win the 2019 Tech Diversity Award, 2020 University of Melbourne Leadership Award and scale to hundreds of female students enabling them to access powerful networks of industry mentors, national work experience programs, World of Work Summits, digital learning programs in STEM, leadership and future skills, and student-led Design Thinking innovation sprints with the likes of Microsoft, Atlassian, NSW Parliament and Virgin Australia. The truth is that you can’t be what you can’t see. And you don’t know what you don’t know. So we hope through our continued work connecting girls and women across geographies, cultures, careers and circumstances, that the next generation of fierce, talented and smart young women will learn, fortify, galvanise, and then step up to be the leaders, CEO’s and heroines of tomorrow. The world needs them to. Learn more at www.girledworld.com or reach out at [email protected]

Our Story

"If you want to change a generation you start with the girls." Girledworld is changing the game for the world's girls. We give 1000's of teenage girls access to female role models from the world's biggest companies, STEM, exponential tech and startup skillsets plus 21st Century, real-world windows to the future of work through our global careers platform.

Our industry-backed career spotlights, girledworld WOW Summits (University of Melbourne 2017 / RMIT 2018 / University of Sydney, Geelong, USA, Melbourne 2019), and global World Of Work platform (Beta launch 2019) give girls career pathways so they can unleash their potential and better shape their futures.

Our mission is to reach 1 million girls by 2020. Maybe more. We collaborate with tech companies in Silicon Valley, corporate giants, scrappy startups and universities to ensure we're tapping research-backed, real-world learning opportunities on and offline to empower, educate and equip secondary school girls with the skills, mentors and knowledge they need to succeed. Plus we connect them to outstanding leaders and experts so they can better shape their thinking, subject choices and future career pathways in STEM, startups and new industry sectors.

2017 was a big year. We delivered the girledworld Big Ideas Leadership Summit to 500+ girls at the University of Melbourne (endorsed by (then) Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and supported by our global Diversity Partner Airbnb).
