According to Harvard Business Review, the real reason we see fewer women in leadership isn't about capability or interestโ€”it's about how we misjudge leadership traits.

Too often, we mistake confidence for competence, allowing overconfident men to rise while more competent women are overlooked. This leads to poor leadership because arrogance and overconfidence, which help men climb the ladder, actually hinder effective management. Women, who excel in humility and emotional intelligence, are often the better leaders we need.

It's time to rethink how we define and recognize true leadership qualities to ensure we promote the right talent and break down the biases holding women back.

Are there fewer women in management because we canโ€™t discern between confidence and competence? The popular explanations range from women just arenโ€™t capable ...

Todayโ€™s HBS class on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Mars Petcare was truly eye-opening. Here are some key takeaways:

๐—”๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€: Are organizations really committed to DEI, or just going through the motions? ๐Ÿค” It's important to ask:

โ€ข What problems are we trying to solve, and why?
โ€ข Are we aiming for real change, or just trying to look good?
โ€ข How can leaders genuinely embed DEI into the company culture?

๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜: How do organizations measure DEI success? ๐Ÿ“Š

โ€ข How do we evaluate the effectiveness of our mentorship programs or bias training?
โ€ข Are we tracking the right metrics to see if our efforts are making a difference?
โ€ข How can we balance both qualitative and quantitative measures?

How do organizations help employees apply DEI principles every day? ๐Ÿ’ช

โ€ข Encouraging individuals to take ownership of their growth
โ€ข Creating a culture where everyone feels empowered to speak up
โ€ข Ensuring DEI principles are part of everyday practices, not just training sessions

๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป: Do organizations have policies to support women and employees from diverse backgrounds? ๐ŸŒŽ

โ€ข Are women given equal opportunities for promotion and career advancement? ๐Ÿ’ช
โ€ข Are flexible work arrangements available to support work-life balance? ๐Ÿ•’
โ€ข Are resources like employee resource groups (ERGs) or mentorship programs available?

๐—™๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต๐˜๐˜€

Diversity and Inclusion are not just about doing whatโ€™s right or ticking boxes; theyโ€™re about creating real change and fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.

For me, DEI initiatives should prioritize people first. Itโ€™s about genuinely caring for them. When people within the organization feel that the initiatives are truly aimed at fostering their well-being, then company growth will follow.

As leaders, itโ€™s our responsibility to create inclusive environments that start at the top. Letโ€™s go beyond surface-level efforts and truly make our workplaces inclusive and fair for everyone.

I've been there too. I understand the mindset that holds us back - and these thoughts are not unique to you. They are a result of implicit bias, and they can be overcome.

My journey to overcome biases and stereotypes is ongoing, and I'm still learning and growing. But I want you to know that you're not alone in this process. I'm here to support and guide you, and I offer the following pointers from my own experience:

๐ŸŒŸ Recognized unconscious bias: Uncovered my own biases and stereotypes, and committed to overcoming them.

๐ŸŒŸ Reached out for mentorship: Connected with a mentor who believes in me and my vision.

๐ŸŒŸ Embraced my diversity: Celebrated my unique strengths and perspectives, and made them the foundation of my brand.

๐ŸŒŸ Focused on strengths and passions: Built a business that ignites my passion and leverages my talents.

๐ŸŒŸ Changed my mindset: Transformed my thoughts from limiting to empowering, and unleashed my full potential.

๐ŸŒŸ Embraced my purpose: Discovered my why, and aligned my business with my values and mission.

As I align my own personal mission with that of Right and Keystone, I'm driven by a shared purpose: to transform lives and empower entrepreneurs from all walks of life.

๐‘พ๐’† ๐’…๐’ ๐’•๐’‰๐’Š๐’” ๐’ƒ๐’š:

1. Empowering underrepresented franchisees through targeted resources and support, helping them achieve success and prosperity.

2. Developing culturally sensitive initiatives that address the unique needs and challenges of diverse communities, fostering a deeper connection and impact.

3. Cultivating a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and social responsibility within our franchise network, ensuring everyone feels valued and empowered.

4. Partnering with community organizations and advocacy groups to amplify our impact, drive positive change, and promote social justice.

5. Providing career advancement opportunities through programs like our internship, dedicated to uplifting and supporting employees from underrepresented backgrounds.

By acknowledging and overcoming our own biases, we can create a more just and inclusive world - one mindset shift at a time. What's your first step to overcome bias and embrace inclusivity?

The man in the ad was motivated by a desire to prove himself to someone else, to show he was worthy of love and acceptance.

I used to seek validation from others to feel worthy, thinking that if I made everyone happy, I'd be loved and accepted. I tried so hard to fit in, thinking I didn't belong because of my own insecurities.

It was exhausting and draining - constantly seeking approval while neglecting my own needs and desires. ๐Ÿคฎ

But I've come to terms with myself - I am already loved and accepted, regardless of what others think. I've understood that my people-pleasing was a coping mechanism for my own fears and doubts - doubts that I'm not good enough or I don't fit in enough.

I've embraced my insecurities and focused on my strengths rather than my weaknesses. It was a long process, but I've finally found the freedom to be myself.

Letโ€™s talk about something that's important for our well-being: recognizing unhealthy behaviors in the workplace.

is a form of psychological manipulation that can be really harmful. It's when someone makes you question your own sanity, memory, or perception, and it can be especially damaging in a professional setting.

Imagine feeling like you're walking on eggshells at work, constantly second-guessing yourself, and wondering if you're good enough. That's what gaslighting can feel like. But here's the thing: you are not alone, and you are not powerless.

If you're experiencing gaslighting, remember these three things:

โค๏ธ You are not crazy. Your feelings and perceptions are valid.
โค๏ธ You are not alone. There are people who believe you and want to support you.
โค๏ธ You are not powerless. You can speak up, seek help, and take back control of your life.

Don't let gaslighting hold you back. You are stronger than it, and you deserve to be treated with respect and kindness.

Keep pushing forward, even when it feels impossible. Seek out resources, support, and people who uplift and empower you.

Remember, your well-being matters, and you are worthy of love, care, and respect - no matter what.

Happy Monday!๐Ÿ’‹

Yes! Monday mornings can be tough. The bed feels too comfortable, the coffee isn't strong enough, and the to-do list seems too long.

But here's the thing: every great accomplishment starts with a small step. And every small step counts.

So take a deep breath, lace up your shoes, and let's tackle this week together. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

You got this!

Running is a part of me. I've been lacing up my shoes since I was 13 years old. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Running challenges me mentally, pushing me to my limits and beyond.

But it also gives me a sense of peace, clarity, and resilience that I can't find anywhere else.

It's my therapy, my stress-reliever, and my happy place all rolled into one.

Through running, I've learned to embrace resilience - to face my fears, to push through pain, and to keep going even when it feels impossible.

And that's exactly what those affected by cancer need - the strength to keep fighting, the courage to keep hoping, and the resilience to keep pushing forward.

This September, I'll be tackling my 10th marathon in Sydney! This time, I'm running for something bigger than myself. I'm running for Cure Cancer, an incredible organization dedicated to finding a cure for this devastating disease.

I've seen the impact of cancer on loved ones and friends, and I want to do my part to support the amazing work of Cure Cancer. That's why I'm dedicating my 10th marathon to raising vital funds for this incredible cause!

My goal is to raise $2000, and I need your help to get there! Whether it's $5 or $50, every donation counts and brings us closer to a future where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.

Let's run towards a cure for cancer together! Click the link below to support my fundraising efforts and help me reach my goal. ๐Ÿ’–

Thanks in advance for your support, friends! Let's do this! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

10 Years of Running, 10 Years of Hope In September 2024, I'll be lacing up my running shoes for my 10th consecutive marathon - and this time in the iconic city of Sydney. Let's talk about failure. Because, let's face it, we've all been there. We've all faced setbacks, made mistakes, and felt like giving up.

But here's the thing: failure is not the end.

It's a chance to learn, grow, and try again. Every mistake is an opportunity to become stronger, wiser, and more resilient.

So, don't be too hard on yourself when things don't go as planned. Instead, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. You got this!
