Did you know that a Melbourne suburb is the birthplace of the Ashes?
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced plans to introduce new laws to combat antisemitism in Australia, describing it as an "evil scourge" following the Bondi Beach attack, in which 15 people attending a Hanukkah celebration were killed.
Albanese said he would fully adopt a report on combating antisemitism delivered by antisemitism envoy, Jillian Segal, which the government has been criticised by some members of the Jewish community for sitting on. Via
In the wake of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack over the weekend, the Albanese government is fast-tracking a suite of legislative reforms aimed at cracking down on hate speech and tightening migration laws to avert individuals with extremist views.
A Plaque has been unveiled in Coolgardie, a remote town of Western Australia, which formalises the stories of nearly 150 Sikh residents who lived in the region in the 1890s.
