Rents climbing. House prices falling. Guess who wins either way?

New forecasts suggest home values could drop 10% or more, while rents could jump 15–30%. For younger Australians trying to save a deposit, that's a brutal combination higher rent eating into savings, just as prices start to look more affordable.

But for the country's 2.2 million residential landlords, many of them older and wealthier, this could be a genuine profit boom. A $1m property currently earning $731 a week in rent could jump to $877 a week under these forecasts even as the property itself loses value. With cashflow that strong, there's little reason for landlords to sell.

Meanwhile, younger would-be investors have been leaving the market following Labor's budget tax changes.

So prices fall, rents rise, and the people who already own property come out ahead again.

Ever feel like you have zero say in what shows up on your own feed?

Right now, tech platforms decide what you see and until something goes wrong, they don't have to explain why. That might be changing.

PM Albanese says he's open to giving Australians more control over their feeds, but he hasn't committed to letting you opt in or out properly. Meanwhile, Communications Minister Anika Wells is drafting new "Digital Duty of Care" laws due this month, which would force platforms to prevent harm before it happens, instead of just cleaning up after.

So the question is simple: should you get a say in what's pushed onto your screen, or should the platforms keep deciding for you?

🇱🇰 LEGENDARY COMPANY FOR SONAL DINUSHA! 🔥

Sonal Dinusha has just produced an innings that will be remembered for a very long time.

He has scored twin centuries in the same Test, becoming only the third batter in Test history to score hundreds in both the second and third innings of a Test match after his team followed on.

The only two before him were:
🇮🇳 Vijay Hazare vs Australia, Adelaide, 1948
🇿🇼 Andy Flower vs South Africa, Harare, 2001
🇱🇰 Sonal Dinusha vs India, 2026

And this is now his 3rd Test century in just 5 matches. 🫡🔥

Even more remarkable, Dinusha has scored 100, 84 and 103 in his first three Test innings against India. Only Everton Weekes and Zaheer Abbas had previously scored 80+ in each of their first three Test innings against India.

He now joins Aravinda de Silva and Kumar Sangakkara as the only Sri Lankan batters to score three centuries in a two-Test series.

And he did much of this from the pressure of the middle and lower order, walking in at 90/5 in Galle and 137/5 in Colombo.
