Collingwood Football Club defender Billy Frampton is free to play, after the AFL tribunal found his tackle on Brody Mihocek that resulted in a fractured neck for the Demons forward was not considered unreasonable. In Wednesday night’s hearing, the Magpie detailed his immediate concern for Mihocek, a 2023 premiership teammate, when he realised the Demon was injured. “He said he needed help, [and] he couldn’t move, which was quite a distressing thing to hear,” Frampton told the tribunal.

Collingwood will challenge the three-match ban for Billy Frampton after a tackle that left Melbourne’s Brody Mihocek with a fractured neck.

An emotional Gary Ablett jnr paid tribute to his famous father, who he says “never pressured me into football”, and also thanked his two AFL clubs – Geelong Cats and Gold Coast, where he played 357 games over nearly two decades. Inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday night, Ablett jnr said he would never have achieved what he was able to do without the support of his family, in particular Gary snr. “I’m grateful for how you’ve never pressured me into football, encouraging me to give everything a go and telling me you’ll always love me for who I am, not for what I do."

Geelong and Gold Coast champion Gary Ablett has been honoured for his glittering contribution to the game, joining his father and namesake in the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

AFL LIVE | The Australian Football Hall of Fame's newest Legend, Bill Walker, has spoken about his time playing under Haydn Bunton jnr at Swan Districts. “Bunton made a great change to the attitudes of the club and the players, and we went on and won three premierships in a row,” he said. Bunton had Walker play out of the forward pocket, where he kicked 70 goals as a forward pocket in year one.

Bill Walker is the newest Legend of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, on the night some of the game’s biggest names were inducted.
