At age 18 Christo Brown broke into a West Launceston home, demanded s*x and money, and r***d a 76-year-old woman in her bed. He fled to Melbourne the next morning. DNA on her nightgown identified him. He was extradited, convicted by jury in 2018 of r**e, aggravated burglary and demanding property with menaces, and sentenced to 8 years (eligible for parole after 4). While on bail he was also convicted of s*xual assault in Queensland. 

Before his earliest release date of 31 October 2025, the Supreme Court of Tasmania declared him a high-risk offender for five years. The court found he posed an “unacceptable risk” of committing another serious offence. Conditions included electronic monitoring, an 8pm–6am curfew, a ban on alcohol and drugs, mandatory counselling, and permission required to leave Tasmania. Prison reports had noted intimidation and inappropriate advances toward female staff. 

What happened after release:
He was released around late October/November 2025.

• January 2026: alleged alcohol consumption (a condition of the order).

• May–June 2026: curfew breaches (one by three minutes; another while at a Hungry Jacks drive-through) plus a drink-driving charge.
�He pleaded guilty to some of the order and bail breaches. In late August 2026 a magistrate imposed one month’s jail, backdated, after which he was released again. 

A petition calling for his deportation gathered thousands of signatures in 2025. Mainstream Tasmanian coverage (The Examiner, The Mercury) has reported the court appearances and breaches.

Labor refuse to drop the refugee numbers, and deport dangerous men like this.

A Century of Honour, Undone in Minutes

The Australian War Memorial is not a political stage.

It is our national shrine — the resting place of 103,000 names of Australians who died in the service of this country.

Yet right now, under the leadership of Kim Beazley, the Memorial Council is pushing to turn part of that sacred ground into a platform for contested history and activism.

They want extensive coverage of “frontier conflict” in the new Pre-1914 Gallery — framing colonial-era violence as if it belongs in the same institution that honours those who served in uniform under the Australian flag.

The campaign Defend Sacred Ground has drawn a clear line. Their message is simple and powerful:
The Memorial is not a political vehicle.

It is our national shrine, the grave of 103,000 names.

Now they want to fill it with activism and contested history.

Whether you agree with every historical claim about the frontier period or not is beside the point. The Australian War Memorial has a clear legal purpose under its own Act: to commemorate Australians who died on active service or as a result of war or warlike operations in which Australians served. Stretching that purpose to include colonial-era conflict risks turning a place of solemn remembrance into another battlefield in the culture wars.

Once you start rewriting the meaning of the Memorial to suit current politics, where does it stop?

Melbourne Airport has introduced all-gender toilets as part of amenity upgrades across terminals (including T1, T2, and T4). Official announcements confirm dedicated male, female, accessible, and all-gender facilities. 

The airport also has dedicated gender-segregated Islamic prayer rooms. The airport’s own recent social media posts explicitly mention “dedicated Islamic prayer rooms to support specific prayer needs.” Independent sources (including travel sites aimed at Muslim travellers) describe the Islamic facilities as gender-segregated.

This is a trend across many shopping centres, where there was space for many to use bathroom facilities the new gender neutral toilets are not space efficient, with wait times set to increase - everyone has to suffer for 0.9% of the population.

Approximately 0.9% of Australians aged 16 and over identify as trans or gender diverse ABS.

Britain played a major role in ending the transatlantic slave trade and slavery in its colonies:

• William Wilberforce was the leading parliamentary campaigner. Working with figures such as Thomas Clarkson and supported by Quakers and other activists, he helped secure the Slave Trade Act 1807, which banned the British slave trade.

• The Slavery Abolition Act 1833 (effective from 1834, with full emancipation largely complete by 1838) abolished slavery throughout most of the British Empire. It freed hundreds of thousands of people (mainly in the Caribbean, Mauritius, and South Africa) and compensated owners with a large government payout. 

Britain then used its navy to suppress the trade by other nations.

Cullin-la-Ringo / Wills massacre (19 killed)
Horatio Spencer Wills (a Victorian squatter and politician) and a party establishing a cattle station near Springsure (Nogoa River area) were attacked in the afternoon while many rested. Aboriginal attackers (Gayiri/Kairi people) used clubs (nulla nullas) and spears. The dead included Wills, men, women, and children (among them members of the Baker and Mannion families). A handful survived (including Wills’s son Tom Wills, later a noted cricketer and Australian rules football pioneer, who was away at the time).

Was it Retribution?

There is no evidence that Horatio Will or his son Tom Wills killed any Indigenous people before the Cullin-la-Ringo massacre on 17 October 1861.

Context of the attack

The Wills party had only recently arrived in the area (early to mid-October 1861, after an eight-month overland journey from Brisbane) and were still setting up a temporary camp at what became Cullin-la-Ringo station.

Contemporary accounts and later historical analysis describe their interactions with local Gayiri (also called Kairi) people as peaceful up to the day of the attack. Aboriginal people moved freely through or near the camp that day before the sudden assault.

WIFE-RAPIST KEPT IN AUSTRALIA

A Nigerian man who r***d his estranged wife, assaulted his autistic son, and had a long history of family violence has been allowed to stay in Australia after the Administrative Review Tribunal restored his visa.

Known only as “LHDV” in the tribunal decision, the 39-year-old arrived in 2016 on a student visa, never finished his course, and later became involved in a major phishing scam with his Australian wife. In 2024 he r***d her after she ended the relationship. He was convicted of r**e, s*xual assault and breaching a suspended sentence, served around 20 months in prison, then was taken into immigration detention in May.

Despite a Domestic Violence Order that remains in force until 2031, the Tribunal decided last week that he should not be deported. Senior Member Alison Mercer ruled that his “rehabilitation” (including certificates in domestic violence awareness and anger management) and the “best interests of his children” outweighed the risk he poses to the community.

This is the same Direction 110 system that has already allowed a string of convicted s*x offenders, violent criminals and even killers to keep their visas. While ordinary Australians struggle with the cost of living, the government is still housing some of these detainees in hotels — including five-star suites — at taxpayer expense.

How many more women have to be beaten or r***d before the message sinks in? If you commit serious family violence as a non-citizen, you should be removed. Full stop.

The Minister has the power to intervene. The question is whether he will use it.

Taxpayer-Funded Activism: The $2.2 Billion Political Rort

Australian governments have quietly handed $2.24 billion of your money to a network of activist groups over five years.
Not for hospitals. Not for roads. Not for cost-of-living relief.

According to research from the Institute of Public Affairs, 100 selected organisations received this money between 2021 and 2025 to push progressive causes: diversity and multiculturalism over a billion, welfare-state law fare, Indigenous co-governance and environmental activism.

Annual spending jumped 60% in that period. Ten of these groups alone vacuumed up more than half the total.
The researchers found zero comparable funding for non left wing organisations.

The deck is stacked. Governments federal and state, are using public money to fund the very activists who then lobby those same governments, run media campaigns, and shape the “consensus.” Ordinary Australians who hold mainstream views are silenced while the other side is bankrolled by the system itself.

This is not charity. It is political advocacy with a taxpayer subsidy. When activist groups take public funds and turn around to demand more progressive policies,
they are speaking with the community’s own money against many of the community’s interests and values.

The “progressive” network keeps expanding while power bills rise, housing becomes unaffordable, and trust in institutions collapses. Australians are told the debate is settled. It isn’t. It has simply been bought.

A healthy democracy requires a level playing field for ideas. Funding one side of the argument with public money is the opposite of that. It is a soft form of state capture quieter than a grant scandal, more corrosive than most pork-barrelling.

If governments want advocacy, let those groups raise their own money like everyone else. Taxpayers did not consent to bankroll a permanent progressive lobby.

Students Used as Political Props: The Indoctrination Behind the Anti-One Nation Walkouts

Thousands of Australian schoolchildren and university students walked out of class on Thursday to protest Pauline Hanson and One Nation. Organised under the banner “Students Say No to Hanson,” the rallies took place in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and other centres.

The main organisers were the National Union of Students and a group calling itself High School Anti-Capitalists. Key figures involved include NUS Education Officer Yasmine Johnson, a member of the revolutionary Marxist group Socialist Alternative. Campus socialist branches and Students for Palestine groups also played active roles in promoting and running the events.

Children as young as high school age were encouraged to skip lessons, march through city streets, and chant slogans branding Hanson a racist and calling for One Nation to be shut down. Some carried homemade signs and even an effigy of Hanson. In several cities, speakers openly identified as socialists and framed the protest as resistance to “far-right” politics.

This is not organic youth activism. It is organised political mobilisation of minors by adult activist networks with a clear ideological agenda. Socialist Alternative is a Trotskyist organisation that openly seeks to recruit young people into revolutionary politics. High School Anti-Capitalists distributed guides telling students how to recruit classmates, create group chats, and put up posters inside schools.

Pauline Hanson responded directly: “Schools should teach young Australians how to think, not what to think.” She pointed out that if students want to protest, they should focus on falling real wages, the cost of living, and the future they are inheriting under the current government. Instead, they were steered toward attacking a party that is rising in the polls precisely because many ordinary Australians are concerned about immigration levels, social cohesion, and the direction of the country.

When political activists target schoolchildren, pull them out of class, and feed them a one-sided narrative about racism and “far-right” threats, it is indoctrination. Children are not political chess pieces. Using them this way undermines education and turns schools into recruitment grounds for radical politics.

Parents and teachers should be asking hard questions. Who authorised the promotion of these walkouts inside schools? Why are activist groups with revolutionary agendas given access to secondary students? And why is missing class for a political protest treated as more important than learning?

One Nation’s surge in support has clearly rattled sections of the activist left. Their response has been to put schoolchildren on the streets. That should concern every parent who wants schools focused on education rather than ideology.

While researching closing the gap statistics I decided to ask Al how it thinks China would solve the problems in Aboriginal communities - this is what it said

If China faced chronic low attendance and weak national-language literacy in remote areas, it would treat the issue as a non-negotiable state priority—and enforce results.

In remote and ethnic-minority regions (Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and rural western provinces), China’s approach is hard-edged and consistent:

Core Methods Used:

Strict Compulsory Schooling: 9 years minimum. Local officials are directly accountable for enrollment. Non-attendance brings real consequences for families (welfare impacts, job pressure, official intervention).

Large-Scale Boarding Schools: Children from dispersed or pastoral villages are moved into central residential schools from a young age to ensure regular attendance and full immersion.

National Language Immersion (Mandarin): Mandarin is required as the primary medium of instruction from preschool onward. Local minority languages are largely reduced to a single subject to ensure functional national-language competence.

Centralised Curriculum & High-Stakes Testing: National textbooks, strict standards, and measurable outcomes.
Massive Infrastructure & Teacher Deployment: Directing teachers to remote posts and tying education directly into national poverty-alleviation campaigns.

The Trade-Offs Accepted:
China prioritises standard national-language literacy, consistent attendance, and economic integration over preserving regional languages or keeping children in local villages.

Critics (Human Rights Watch, UN experts) label this as cultural assimilation and language erosion.

Beijing frames it as equity, economic opportunity, and national unity.

Applied to the Australian Context:
If China were managing the same patterns seen in Australia's remote communities, it would almost certainly:

Enforce attendance rigorously.

Expand boarding and residential options so children are in school consistently.

Make Standard Australian English the dominant medium of instruction from early childhood.

Hold local systems accountable for strict literacy and numeracy benchmarks.

They would not continue indefinite "both-ways" or bilingual experiments that yield poor functional English outcomes.

The Bottom Line: China treats functional national-language education and school attendance as absolute state imperatives that override other considerations. Australia has not.
