Following high-level talks in Tehran, the foreign ministers of Turkey and Iran have described Israel as the “greatest threat to regional stability,” expressing concern over Israel’s increasing cross-border actions and attacks.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that recent regional developments have underscored the importance of security cooperation between Ankara and Tehran. He added that the two countries “share similar assessments regarding Israel’s role in regional instability.”
In recent years, Israel has carried out military operations targeting Qatar, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and several other countries in the region. Additionally, Israel’s intelligence activities have, according to the ministers, contributed to insecurity and unrest across the Middle East.
Iranian and Turkish officials emphasized that these developments represent “examples of destabilizing behavior” and constitute “an escalating threat to collective security.”
Fidan further stated: “The situation in Gaza, tensions in Lebanon and Syria, and concerns over Israel’s expansionist policies make urgent action by the international community all the more necessary.” He called for “increased international pressure to prevent further escalation of conflicts.”
