THE PITTWATER RENOVATION THAT BROUGHT A STORM-DAMAGED HOME BACK TO LIFE

Some homes are too special to let go, and this Clareville residence on Sydney’s Northern Beaches is one of them. Set directly on Pittwater’s eastern foreshore, the storm-damaged home has been transformed by JJ Building into Foreshore House, a warm and highly liveable waterfront retreat designed with Richard Cole Architecture for relaxed multi-generational living. The renovation retains what made the site extraordinary, then opens it up with extensive glazing, timber stacking doors, terraces, verandahs and uninterrupted views across Pittwater towards Scotland Island and Lion Island. Inside, timber, natural tones, bespoke joinery by Fineworx Joinery, and interiors by Hare + Klein bring softness and depth, while six bedrooms, four bathrooms, three living zones, a lift, boatshed and rooftop spa make the home as functional as it is memorable.

THE WINDOW SYSTEMS BEHIND A LUXURY ESTATE

On a 5-acre estate in Middle Dural, the windows were not treated as an afterthought, they became a defining part of how the home looks, feels and performs. More than 500sqm of high-performance Low-E double glazing was used throughout the project, with premium AWS window and door systems helping the home exceed BAL-40 requirements while still keeping the architecture clean, open and connected to the landscape. A mix of aluminium and bespoke timber added strength, warmth and refinement, while the scale of the glazing, including flush threshold sliding doors and large raked gable windows installed with crawler cranes, shows just how much thought and craft can sit behind a beautifully framed view.
