Noah Secomb catches the scuttlebutt around Autralian Polotics and movement toward and against an Independents Teal Party Formation.

C31 Wednesdays @ 6pm
Catch up C31 Melbourne and Geelong https://ctvplus.org.au/series/laneway-a-ctv-news-project/

Captions: We've heard from Zali Steggall, who's one of the more senior teal independents of that group that we've kind of lumped together and she's reflected on the fact that this is her third term as an independent in federal politics and there's a need to do more to kind of push back against the established two party system. But she was saying that the idea of a party of independents is something that people actually want, that there's a need to have a bit of a joining together of some of these disparate individuals in politics. But at the same time, we've heard from other independents like Monique Ryan out of the seat of Kooyong, who said that she was voted in as an independent. She's going to stay as an independent because the function of a party is the whole thing that people have pushed back against.

Call for transport accessibility. Daniel Bowen from Public Transport Users Association (PTUA), Victoria, Australia explains the need to have affordable transport available at the times users need it.

C31 Wednesdays @ 6pm
Catch up C31 Melbourne and Geelong https://ctvplus.org.au/series/laneway-a-ctv-news-project/

Captions: Fundamentally, if public transport isn't there when you want to travel, you're stuck in the car, and that's obviously a financial burden at the moment with fuel prices. But it's also an equity issue because some people just simply can't, can never afford their car or some people can't drive. So people too young to drive, too old to drive, or for other reasons they may not be able to drive. So fundamentally, all Victorians need to have more choices in terms of how they get around.
