This Sunday 3 March on Reflections 3MBS at 4pm, Loretto Perkins is joined by award-winning Australian composer, Mary Finsterer.

Mary Finsterer is an award-winning Melbourne-based composer who's been internationally recognised for innovative compositions in a variety of genres. Not only is her work heard in concert halls and churches but also on the screen with film scores. In 2023, she was the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's Composer in Residence.

On Reflections 3MBS this Sunday 3 December at 4pm, Loretto Perkins is joined by retired Gastroenterologist and writer, Dr Katrina Watson OAM.

Dr Katrina Watson OAM, was the first female gastroenterologist in Victoria. Her contribution in this field led to her appointment as Chairperson of the National Digestive Foundation which pushed government on health issues including bowel cancer screening and hepatitis B and C.

Katrina was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2018 for services to medicine. In retirement, she's written her first novel, The Bones.

This Sunday on Reflections 3MBS at 4pm, we rebroadcast Gemma Sisia's extraordinary story.

Gemma Sisia grew up on a sheep and cattle farm in northern NSW and after university, worked as a volunteer in Uganda. From that experience, she founded a school for disadvantaged children in Tanzania in 2002, starting with three pupils. Today, the School of St Jude, is thriving with nearly 2000 pupils.

Gemma was back in Australia in June to share updates and launch Madeleine Kelly's book The School That Hope Built.

This Sunday 2 July on Reflections 3MBS at 4pm, Loretto Perkins is joined by international violist and MICMC 2023 juror, Hsin-Yun Huang, Violist.

From New York City, Hsin-Yun Huang joins six other international jurors for this year’s Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. One of the leading violists of her generation, she performs on international concert stages and frequently at festivals, and commissions and records new works and nurtures young musicians.

Hsin-Yun Huang currently serves on the faculties of The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music.

This Sunday 4 June at 4pm on Reflections 3MBS, Doug Beecroft is joined by Carole Woods OAM.

Carole Woods is a writer, historian and advocate for local community histories, and talks about her life, her books and her passion for history.

These books range from the history of Beechworth to the biography of Vera Deakin, daughter of Australia’s second Prime Minister, Alfred Deakin. In 1915, Vera Deakin established the Australian Red Cross Wounded and Missing Enquiry Bureau in Cairo, later moving it to London. She was awarded an OBE in 1919 and during World War II, led similar work for the Red Cross in Melbourne.

This Sunday on Reflections 3MBS at 4pm, Kiera Stevens is joined by Dr Alastair Jackson AM.

Dr Alastair Jackson AM, is a retired medical practitioner, former 3MBS volunteer presenter and devoted music lover. In retirement, he has served on many musical and medical committees.

Alastair is a generous supporter of the arts and recently funded an international opera award to enable young singers to study at London's Royal College of Music. In 2018 he was named a Member of the Order of Australia.

This Sunday on Reflections 3MBS, Loretto Perkins is joined by Commissioner for Senior Victorians and Ambassador for Elder Abuse Prevention, Gerard Mansour.

Gerard Mansour is the first appointed Commissioner for Senior Victorians. His role involves working closely with communities throughout the state to ensure that the perspectives and experiences of seniors are reflected in the Victorian Government’s policies supporting every Victorian to age well.

Gerard is heavily involved in many important initiatives including the prevention of elder abuse and is a strong believer in the philosophy that everyone has a right to be heard and listened to.
