We’re pleased to open submissions for the debut issues of Journal de Folie.
Folie is an independent literary journal with a primary focus on short fiction.
We publish work that pays close attention to interior life, language, and psychological tension, writing that allows for ambiguity, that lingers, and that does not rush to explain itself.
Alongside fiction, we publish a small selection of creative non-fiction, poetry, and visual work.
While Folie is not a political journal, we do not treat literature as separate from social reality. We are interested in work that engages, directly or indirectly, with the pressures that shape contemporary life, class, memory, intimacy, labour, identity, without flattening complexity or prescribing answers. We value consequence over position.
The theme for our debut issues is Rebirth. This is a loose and suggestive framework rather than a requirement. Work does not need to engage directly with the theme to be considered.
Submissions are open until 13 March 2025. If your work is not selected for Issue One, it may be considered for Issue Two unless you request otherwise.
We are committed to paying contributors. At launch, we offer an honorarium of $30 per published piece, with the intention of increasing contributor payment as the journal grows.
Full submission guidelines can be found via the link in our bio.
