Triple Y Grovely, a Hill's community radio station listened to throughout the World TripleYGrovely.au

Triple Y Grovely is a volunteer internet radio station that wishes to provide learning and experience for any volunteers in all aspects of internet radio. We are particularly interested in letting young people have these experiences and naturally, invite more experienced people to help build that skills and knowledge, as well as being full participants in the radio process. The studio is situated in the St Williams Parrish who also hold the license.

If someone asked you to gather up your treasure, what would you be holding? What do you think of when you refer to your treasure? My little fella has a book called ‘Digger and Lew’. They are two creatures who are good friends playing together when they see a rainbow. Digger and Lew decide to chase down some treasure, the gold at the end of the rainbow, adventuring onwards together, until the end of the rainbow is unattainable. But together they realise that they are each other’s treasure. Their friendship is the gold. I like that book and its message. It got me thinking about the Gospel of Matthew 6 where it says, ‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ As a whole the Scripture warns us against hoarding Earthly treasure. We are being guided that we shouldn’t spend our days being focused on worldly possessions and money. Then it actually tells us to pursue the treasures of heaven. The Scripture is advising us to spend our time chasing things that bear fruit for eternity. So rather than pursuing money and possessions, we are to make time for helping the poor, help those who have been wronged, care for the people around us, learn Scripture, and share the Gospel. Those things are eternal. We need to not get petty or confused about this, Jesus isn’t saying don’t have a job, don’t earn money. He is saying not to make it a focus. My eldest son attended Nudgee College and in speeches raising awareness and funds for various wonderful causes, they would use the Scripture, ‘To whom much is given, much is expected’. And that’s a great way to look at our life. We are not called to hoard Earthly things. We aren’t here for today, we are here for eternal life. We are better people when we seek Kingdom treasures. It’s just that simple. So let us ‘strive first for the Kingdom’ (Matthew 6:33) and remember ‘for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ - L

In the book, Aloha from Hell by Richard Kadrey, there’s a snippet that reads, “when you’re born into a burning house, you think the whole world is on fire. But it’s not.” And that really hit me! Our household vibe, the tone of our home, sets the standard of our thought baseline. Think about it; if we grow up with parents that yell a lot, we might not think twice about raising our voice at others. But if we've grown up in a home where loud voices were just for singing and shouts of joyful surprise, someone yelling at us might be a painful experience. We all have a different baseline. Let's think on what the vibe of our home was like growing up, and what we are doing now to set the tone of our home. Being a Catholic mother I have been given such a gift; I've got this not-so-secret weapon of a thing to help me; the Bible! It tells me to lavish love upon others, to be patient, to be kind, to forgive more than I ever thought imaginable. The Bible sets a standard of conduct for my home too; we aren't to steal, to be jealous of others, or take life, amongst other things. A deeper dive into Scripture and we can see that as a wife I am my husband's helper, I am the encourager of my children, I am a woman who needs to make time for my friends and family and support those around me. There's so much more... the Bible really can be the playbook on how to live and love in this life. And gosh I wish everyone could read it. It's such a privilege to read the Word of God. So, what are we doing to set a culture of love in our homes? Are we praising kindness over results? Are we practising forgiveness and offering words of encouragement? How are we setting the tone of our home? What are we flagging as important to those around us? Are we saying positive lovely things to each other in the morning and loving gentle things to each other at night? It’s the little moments that develop culture. Think about your home and make changes if required. The Bible can help direct you if you need. Check out the Beatitudes, the fruits of the Spirit and the Commandments for a baseline. You can set the tone of your home. Amen! - L

Samford Show never disappoints! It's a great date day, family fun day and experience for all! There truly is something for everyone, whether you're chasing a roster, a ride or delicious fun food! Our family's favourite thing this year was the Wildlife Unleashed Show! The kids were impressed with a crocodile, huge snakes, and a beautiful owl! Samford Show is on again tomorrow folks! It's the best way to end your school holidays! - L
