Working on some content for Teach Queensland today. This is one of their long form social posts I prepared earlier, which received a great response on Facebook.

If you're looking for a great example of a Government branch doing great things on social, be sure to check out the Teach Queensland page on FB and Instagram.

"Even when I was a kid I wanted to be a teacher. All my work experience in high school was teaching. I don't think there was any sort of epiphany where I went, ‘I definitely want to be a teacher’. It's just what I always wanted to do.

I wasn't a great student. I wasn't great at studying or great at assignments. But I wanted to be a teacher, so I had to go to Uni.

I still love being here. I don't have days off. I tell them stories about Mrs Nunn and things like that. I mean, within reason. You give them that little glimpse into your life. Kids love that. They love it when they see you at the shops and things … ‘Oh my gosh, you buy bread!’ … ‘Yeah, mate. I do’. I tell them how I always want pizza on a Friday night, and Mrs Nunn doesn't let me have it.

I bring my sons up to school a couple of times a year for lunch and the kids play with them. Just those little insights can make them feel ‘He cares and he wants to be here’.

I'm not saying that I'm trying to be everyone's dad or I'm trying to be everyone's best mate. But for some kids I may be their only glimpse of a dad-figure or a good male role model, which is what I try to teach them."

Happy National Flexible Work Day!! I have had to create the flexibility and career opportunities I wanted by becoming self-employed. This has its own challenges, but I wouldn't have it any other way. This is a great article. The 9 to 5 needs a rethink!

Video content is so powerful, particularly on social. Video posts are getting far greater reach than link posts on Facebook, so repurposing posts to video is something that all community managers should consider.

This week I found a great new FREE tool called Lumen5 which will turn blog/web posts into video. It's so simple and really intuitive. I knocked this one up for a client in under 15 minutes!

I've experienced this from the customer side this week. Unfortunately, we found some termites in our house.

Cue the panic!

I took to google to find someone to come out and look at it. I needed to find someone I could trust. I soon found a business via some five-star Google ratings and clicked on their website. There I found informative blog posts and videos that armed me with information and made me feel knowledgeable about the issue. I looked at other sites which were all hard sell with no information. Guess who got my business?

Investing in good quality content that addresses your customer base's key concerns and questions is the best thing you can do for your online marketing!

PROJECT LOVE: It's always great to see the finished product of your hard work and this one's particularly special. The brief for the new Teach Queensland site was to simplify, simplify, simplify! The old site was chock full of information but it was hard to navigate and there was no clear tone of voice. The new site not only looks fresh and is easy to navigate, but delivers the key information clearly and succinctly! ❤️️

I'm excited to reveal I've joined the Kids in the City/Kids on the Coast team as Digital Editor. The role means I get to source, commission, write and edit informative, inspiring and entertaining stories for parents across South-East Queensland.

Alongside this I'll continue to be working as Peacock Content's head bird working on a range of client projects including website copywriting, magazine features and blogging.

The best part of my job is doing what I love with a range of clients all doing awesome things. I can't wait to share some more of these in the near future. Bel 😊
