Are you prepared for the next big dry?

Following community consultation last year on the Castlereagh Country Drought Plans, the Gilgandra and Warrumbungle Shire Councils are pleased to announce the launch of an innovative free event aimed at building resilience, empowering communities and showcasing opportunities.

The Castlereagh Country Drought Resilience and Innovation Showcase on Thursday November 20 will unite experts, local stakeholders, and agricultural innovators to showcase practical tools, emerging technologies, and diversification opportunities to
help empower residents in times of dry.

We know the timing isnโ€™t ideal with everyone busy at harvest, thatโ€™s why weโ€™ll be filming the event and creating a podcast, launching in early 2026, ensuring everyone has access to the valuable information and insights shared by the experts.

Last week, Brooke Watts presented on behalf of Business with Brooke at the NSW Farmersโ€™ Cultivating Tomorrow event, held during the Australian National Field Days.

The evening was full of energy, ideas, and great conversations about the future of farming in our state.

Led by Rachel Nicoll, the panel brought together an inspiring mix of voices:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Iain MacLennan โ€“ St Albans Farm
๐Ÿ‘‰ Stuart Gavin โ€“ Gavin Shearing
๐Ÿ‘‰ Darren Connick โ€“ AWN Orange
๐Ÿ‘‰ Mark Westcott โ€“ Rural Succession Solutions
๐Ÿ‘‰ Brooke Watts - Business with Brooke

Itโ€™s always a pleasure to support NSW Farmers, who continue to create valuable opportunities for connection, collaboration, and forward thinking across regional NSW.

Discussions throughout the evening were full of optimism and honesty, exploring both the challenges and the exciting opportunities ahead for young farmers across the state.

A huge thank you to NSW Farmers for hosting such a positive and future-focused event.

Yesterday, Ben took to the stage at the NSW Vertebrate Pest Management Symposium 2025, presenting โ€œReal-Time Eyes in the Sky: Deploying Defence-Grade, Purpose-Built Drone Platforms for Advanced Pest Animal Surveillance Across Australia.โ€

Ben shared how Bralca is adapting defence-grade drone technologies to tackle one of Australiaโ€™s biggest challenges, pest animal management. His session explored how purpose-built drone platforms are transforming surveillance by delivering real-time data, improving detection accuracy, and enabling faster response times across vast and remote landscapes.

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase how innovation and practical application can come together to strengthen biosecurity and land management outcomes nationwide.

A huge thanks to the VPM Symposium team for hosting such an insightful event and bringing together experts and innovators working to protect Australiaโ€™s environment and agricultural industries.
