There was something truly special at Moonambel Primary School this week – a visit from 100-year-old former student, Jack Moyle, who first attended the school back in 1933! 🏫

Jack wandered the grounds with a grin, sharing stories of what the old place looked like nearly a century ago, and even found the brick he purchased for the school’s 125th anniversary! 🪨

Everyone was captivated, hearing firsthand how much has changed. “Thanks Jack for sharing your memories of our wonderful school,” wrote the school. “A true Moonambel man.” 🙏🏻‍

A beautiful reminder that while time moves on, the spirit of the Moonambel community never fades! ✨

The Member for Ripon, Martha Haylett has met with Stuart Mill residents to discuss the future of the Upper Teddington Reservoir, following confirmation that the site will be retained.

Martha said Parks Victoria has made “good progress” since deciding earlier this year not to decommission the reservoir, instead exploring options to safely retain the dam wall.

She said the agency is now working closely with GWM Water, Stuart Mill Water Supply Inc, and the Northern Grampians Shire Council to secure the site’s long-term future.

Situated between St Arnaud, Bealiba, Redbank and Navarre, the reservoir is a popular local spot for fishing, camping, and family getaways, and has long been cherished by the community.

Locals have welcomed the news as a positive step toward preserving an important part of the region’s history and lifestyle, while Martha said she’ll continue to work with stakeholders as plans progress.

Summerfield Winery and Accommodation has welcomed back well-known Melbourne-based food writer, journalist, photographer, and author Richard Cornish.

Richard visited the Pyrenees winery recently as part of his ongoing work showcasing the region’s food and wine offerings.

During his visit, he shared wood-fired pizzas, charcuterie, cheese boards and lamb cutlets with the Summerfield team, while sampling their current vintage wines.

The winery says the visit was also an opportunity to update him on new developments at the business, and to highlight the broader appeal of the Pyrenees region.

Redbank is seeing important stormwater drainage and streetscape upgrades, as part of the Redbank Streetscape Project.

Works include drainage along Perry Road and Burge Street, tree planting on Navarre Street and Perry Road, and kerb and channel construction on Navarre Street.

Trees like “Euky dwarf” flowering gums and Crepe Myrtles will be planted based on community feedback and the local climate.

These upgrades, funded with $250,000 from Australian taxpayers, aim to improve drainage and enhance the town's streetscape.

Short-term impacts to locals are expected, but efforts will reportedly be made to minimise disruption.
