This Saturday the 4th of October at the Moruya markets, we will be hosting our Get Ready weekend. We invite everyone from the community to come down and say hi. Our incredible volunteers will be there to answer any questions you may have to prepare for a bush fire. We look forward to seeing you there. 🔥

Tonight, Moruya & Bingie brigade undertook pile burns to happily assist a local landholder to manage their fire risk. We would like to thank all members involved and the landholder for assisting in the burns.🔥

Just a friendly reminder the bushfire danger period starts midnight tonight. 🔥 This means you will need to apply for a permit before undertaking any burns. You can apply online and one of our friendly permit officers will get in contact with you. 😊

Afton is one of those people who just stands out- in the best way. She's super smart, always quick on her feet and thinking clearly even when things get hectic. On top of that, she’s hilarious. Somehow, she knows exactly when to crack a joke to lighten the mood. And when it comes to firefighting, she’s seriously strong-both physically and mentally. Whether she’s charging into a tough situation or supporting her crew, Afton brings a mix of brains, bravery, and heart.

As firefighters, we run into danger just like our family members dressed in Blue. We pause, not to fight flames, but to honour those who have lost their lives in the Victorian Police Force tragedy. Their commitment, courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten, but cherished.

To families and friends, your grief is ours too.

We may wear different uniforms, but we are one family.

The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to STAY INFORMED about predicted possible minor flooding on the Moruya and Deua Rivers :

- Moruya and surrounds
- Wamban and surrounds

You should stay informed by monitoring warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and page, listening to your local ABC radio station, and checking the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG THE SOUTH COAST NSW

Ongoing moderate rainfall and areas of HEAVY RAINFALL are expected during Friday over the Illawarra, South Coast and eastern parts of the Southern Tablelands and Snowy Mountains districts.

Six-hourly rainfall totals of 60 to 100 mm are possible with 24-hourly totals between 100 and 180 mm.

Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by dangerous floodwaters:

✅ Burn notifications are mandatory all year round and must be submitted at least 24 hours before any planned burns.

⚠️ Stay Vigilant: Even though the Fire Danger Period has ended, dry, cured grass remains a concern. Always monitor forecasts and weather conditions closely before lighting any fires.

🚒 The NSW RFS encourages residents to exercise caution and strictly follow local regulations and safety measures when conducting burns.
