Energy Minister, Lily D’Ambrosio made the most of ceremony in her visit to the Latrobe Valley on September 4, finishing her trip with the official opening of the new battery energy storage system in Morwell.

In partnership with Tilt Renewables, the Minister for the SEC cut the ribbon on a 100 megawatt, 200 megawatt-hour battery which had been under construction for 18 months on the site behind the Hazelwood open cut.

Traralgon set up a Grand Final rematch with Leongatha after defeating Moe in the Gippsland League preliminary final.

Capturing the stories of many individuals with diverse backgrounds in the community, Gippsland Multicultural Services Inc (GMS) and Gippsland Multicultural Regional Emergency Management Network has released a book on the journey’s locals have taken to get to where they are today.

The book, GMS Horizons: Stories of Diversity, Connection, and Change, was compiled by 16 local contributors from diverse backgrounds.

Forced to pick up the pieces after a cruel break-in recently, Moe-based charity Life Skills Victoria is attempting to soldier on any way they can in an effort to continue to serve people.

Staff at the NDIS-funded organisation had their world turned upside down when arriving to work last month, only to discover that burglars had gained access to the High Street building, ransacking the place and stealing many essential items.

Passengers were advised to allow extra travel time, and normal services resumed at 9:22am this morning.

⚠️ STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS DEVELOPING ON FRIDAY AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT

Strong and gusty N to NW'ly winds are forecast on Friday across the southern half of the state, with gusts reaching 60-80km/h in central parts and Gippsland, with gusts reaching 90km/h in the Alpine region. The northern half of the state may experience wind gusts of 40-60km/h throughout the day. A severe weather warning for damaging winds may be issued for the central/eastern ranges and the Alpine region.

No significant rainfall totals are expected with the front, but people in the northeast ranges may receive accumulative rainfall totals of 10-20mm.

Thunderstorms will be a risk in western parts of Gippsland and possibly eastern parts of central Victoria, with the highest risk for storms tomorrow (Friday) through the northeast forecast district in the afternoon and evening - Keep an eye out for tomorrow's thunderstorm forecast in the morning.

There is also the possibility of small hail over southwest Victoria late in the afternoon as a pool of cold air moves up from the south.

For the second year in succession, the Wildcats defeated minor premier Traralgon-Tyers United to claim the North Gippsland senior football premiership.
