BIG NEWS: We Bought the Pub! 🍷🍎🍺

We’re thrilled to finally reveal Kersbrook’s worst-kept secret… we bought the Maidstone Hotel!

After months of whispers, anticipation and a whole lot of planning behind the scenes, we’re excited to officially announce that Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider is the proud new owner of our local pub.

This isn’t just a new chapter for us ... it’s the continuation of a story that began right here in Kersbrook 16 years ago.

In time, our Cellar Door will relocate from its current home to the Tavern, where we’ll blend the heart of our winery with the spirit of the local pub.

It’s more than a move ... it’s a merging of community, history, family and good times.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony (Eugenio) Sanso. 26/07/1937 - 18/06/2025.

Husband of Zeny, father of Terry, Eugene and also a loving grandfather.

Born in Florence, Tony has always been held in high esteem by those he cooked for during his long and illustrious career. Bringing his experience from the kitchens of Italy, Paris and London to Australia.

Operator / owner of establishments such as The Old Mill (Hahndorf), The Stable (Bridgewater), The Gawler Mill, Villa Sanso (Adelaide), Chianti Classico (Adelaide), Tony’s Bistro (Hahndorf), Tony’s Tuscan Inn (Hahndorf), Osteria Sanso (Adelaide) and of course Osteria Sanso at Kanmantoo.

Tony had a burning passion for food and people, spending his life bringing his unique flavours of Italian food to the local community. A man who will be dearly missed by many.

Family, friends, staff and beloved customers who wish to pay respects are invited to attend Tony's funeral service to be held at Taylor & Forgie, 98 Adelaide Road Gawler South. Service commences at 10:30am on Wednesday, July 2nd.

REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN!
2025 ARBA Youth in Blues Program.
Registrations are open to young musicians between the ages of 12 & 25.

The 2025 ARBA Youth in Blues program will consist of 3 workshops and a concert performance.

Program cost is $90 per participant. Registration cut-off date is 18th July, 2025.

There will be 3 workshops held at The Dream Theatre, 124 Frederick Street, Welland on 3 Sundays in August: 3rd, 10th & 17th. Each workshop will commence at 11am.

There will be a dress rehearsal followed by a concert on the main stage at The Wheatsheaf Hotel, 39 George St, Thebarton Sunday August 24th with the start time to be advised.

Zoos SA is heartbroken to share the passing of Chad, a much-loved lion at Monarto Safari Park.

At three and a half years old, Chad’s loss is sudden and deeply saddening. On Monday, his dedicated keepers noticed he wasn’t himself and he was brought into the night yards for observation. Veterinary testing revealed he was suffering from renal failure.

Despite swift action and expert care, Chad’s condition deteriorated. On Tuesday morning, after thorough assessment, the difficult decision was made to let Chad peacefully go to sleep.

These moments are never easy. But our duty of care is always to provide the very best welfare for the animals we’re privileged to care for and sometimes that means making the hardest, most compassionate choice.

Born at Monarto Safari Park in 2022, Chad was one of three cubs welcomed by lioness Husani. He was bold, curious and full of character, a favourite among keepers and a joy to all who visited.

Chad’s passing is a heartbreaking loss for our Carnivore team and everyone who loved him. Please show kindness and care to one another as we mourn this special young lion together.
