Talking to kids about what’s happening

Children are perceptive and absorb more than we realise. The Royal Children’s Hospital advises that you be mindful of the conversations they overhear, media they’re exposed to, and reassure them with age-appropriate information.

More information can be accessed here: www.rch.org.au/kidsinfo/fact_sheets/Discussing_distressing_news_events_with_children/

Paying your respects

Condolence books are available at the Wangaratta and Wodonga Police Stations for anyone wishing to honour the lives of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart, and acknowledge the service of Victoria Police.

What can you do?

Many are asking how they can help. Checking in on neighbours and loved ones is an important way to support our community while this remains an active incident.

Donations can also be made to the Victoria Police Legacy Remembrance Fund, which is raising funds for the families of Detective Thompson and Senior Constable De Waart: www.givenow.com.au/vplremembrancefund.
