The new Chief Executive Officer appointed for Hornsby Shire Council is Glen Magus.

👏 Hornsby Shire Council has appointed Glen Magus as its new Chief Executive Officer.

A familiar face to many across the organisation, Glen has dedicated more than 28 years to serving the Hornsby Shire community and has held a range of senior leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer and Director Corporate Support.

As Acting General Manager since November 2025, Glen has led the delivery of major community projects and strategic initiatives while providing stability and continuity across Council.

A proud Hornsby local, Glen says he is honoured to take on the role and looks forward to continuing to work alongside Council staff and the community to deliver the vision outlined in the Community Strategic Plan.

Congratulations, Glen, on this well-deserved appointment 🎉

Have you heard about the Remote OpShop Project?

It's Australia's largest network of op shops in remote First Nations
communities, helping create opportunities, build skills and empower local women through community-led enterprises.

To celebrate her birthday in a truly meaningful way, Deputy Mayor Sallianne McClelland is swapping birthday presents for purpose as she heads north with a big red truck and trailer to work alongside women in the remote communities of Cape York.

Together with a team of volunteers, they'll pack a shipping container full of donated clothing before travelling to Cairns to establish pop-up op shops in remote communities. But this project is about much more than providing clothes. It's about creating opportunities for women to build confidence, develop business skills, gain work experience and strengthen their communities through local ownership and leadership.

Instead of birthday gifts this year, Sallianne is inviting the community to donate quality clothing or lend a helping hand to support this incredible initiative.
