GLÓR Project Space is delighted to welcome Benjamin Shannon in Residency as part of our 2026 Gone 2 Ground series.
Benjamin grew up in Nambour and returns to spend two weeks at GLÓR developing Sunshine State, a new large ensemble work exploring place, environment and what it means to make music from Queensland.
Central to the residency is Benjamin’s ongoing work with Conduction, a creative practice sitting at the intersection of improvised and composed music, where a conductor uses a vocabulary of gestures and cues to shape music collectively in real time.
During his time at GLÓR, Benjamin will explore how Conduction can move in and out of composed material, developing new work for his ensemble, Low Pressure System. Drawing on summer storms, subtropical environments and the particular experience of growing up in the Sunshine State, the work asks how place might shape our creative voices and what makes us sound like us.
Benjamin is a composer, conductor, performer and researcher from Nambour whose practice sits within Australia’s experimental and improvised music scene. His work explores collective music making, improvisation and composition, with an interest in creating spaces for individual musical voices to emerge within a larger group.
We’ll be sharing more about Benjamin and the development of Sunshine State over the next while, and keep an eye out for Benjamin’s upcoming workshop at GLÓR on September 12. 🩶

VOTIVE OFFERINGS // RYOSUKE KIYASU + GUDGEON

We’re delighted to welcome Ryosuke Kiyasu back to Nambour on Friday, July 25, following his unforgettable SEQ debut with us in 2024.

Those lucky enough to catch that first performance already know this is not one to miss.

Known for his singular approach to the snare drum, Kiyasu has built an international reputation through performances that are precise, physical and completely unpredictable.

Beginning his career in Canada in 2003, Kiyasu has spent over two decades at the forefront of avant-garde music. Alongside an extensive solo practice, he has performed with SETE STAR SEPT and was drummer for Keiji Haino’s legendary band Fush*tsusha.
In 2018, footage of a Berlin performance went viral, amassing more than 23 million views and leading to features with BBC News, VICE, and later i-D Magazine. His work has also been embraced by the classical percussion world, earning invitations to Germany’s renowned Überschlag Festival, while 2025 saw the inaugural Kiyasu Fest held in Bristol in his honour.
From 2026, he joins Pearl Drums as a featured global artist.

Joining him are Gudgeon , noise rock for the working class. A brutally tight East Coast duo blending fractured Drum’n’Bass energy with noise rock intensity.
Think Shellac precision, NoMeansNo chaos, and something entirely their own.
Barrel-rolling bass lines. Mathematical drumming. Meticulous riffs. Mechanical timing. Masked men.
Expect difficult dancing.

Tickets available now.
