From the fiery boogie opener ‘Any Second Now’, through to the dark acoustic closing of ‘Old Wounds’, Cut and Run takes the listener on a trip from honest acoustic ballads to searing Blues Rock and captures Lloyd Spiegel at his best as a vocalist and guitarist while providing some of his best lyrical work to date.
This album, along with This Time Tomorrow (2017) and 2018's Backroads concludes a trilogy of albums and represents the fruits of an intensely creative time for the Melbourne-based bluesman.
It's Lloyd Spiegel night on HIGHWAY BLUES this Thursday 7-9pm.

Three-time Grammy nominated blues/rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa returns with Tales of Time, a live concert film and album recorded over two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. It features the blues-rock superstar in peak form, pushing the boundaries of the genre with his band of superb musicians.
Also on the HIGHWAY BLUES playlist will be two other excellent guitarists from the U.S.....Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia for a return listen to their new album "Blood Brothers".

The maestro of acoustic guitar Tommy Emmanuel with his outstanding new album "Accomplice 2". This album features rock legends Michael McDonald, Jorma Kaukonen, and Little Feat; bluegrass superstars such as Billy Strings, The Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Sierra Hull, and David Grisman; country icons such as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jamey Johnson, and Raul Malo; and guitar heavyweights like Yasmin Williams, Larry Campbell, and Richard Smith.

Phil Manning who has been at the forefront of Australian Blues for 5 decades is now regarded as a National Treasure.
First coming to public attention as a member of pioneering Blues band CHAIN.....a prominent fixture on the Australian touring circuit during the 60's and 70's and still performing to this day. His latest album "Live Around Oz 1975" is a reissue of the music from way back then and is part of the Australian Road Crew Association's Desk Tape Series which supports roadies and crew in crisis.
It just doesn't get any better than this......the best old school aussie Blues and the best acoustic Blues & Roots on the planet.

The Cash Box Kings treat us all to a real down-home good time on the group’s newest album Oscar’s Motel. The album contains the sound of The Cash Box Kings playing vintage ensemble blues with modern fire and old-school class.
The CBK's are the featured artist on HIGHWAY BLUES this Thursday 7-9pm on 2NVR.
Joining the CBK's will be Tony Holiday who's new album "Motel Mississippi" is a nice humid swampy collection of tunes recorded in Mississippi.
And for something really special we'll be enjoying Blues by aussie Eddie Ink. After many years on iconic aussie TV sets Eddie Ink has turned to writing music for the healing and soul searching that only ‘the blues’ can provide.

Recorded live at Rosa’s Lounge in Chicago, this fantastic tribute to Morris Holt, better known as Magic Slim features Slims’ former band mate John Primer giving us twelve outstanding songs that Magic Slim made part of his performances. The album pays tribute to Slim ten years after his passing.
Also on HIGHWAY BLUES this Thursday will be aussie Jack Derwin with his band The Ragged Gents. Born and raised in the suburbs of Sydney, Jack perfected his skills as a musician throughout his teenage years when he found himself inevitably moving to north western NSW.
