Who can remember the elephants in Fitzroy St when the circus was in town during the ugly man competition run by 4SB ?
Members of the Lions Club rode them up and down Fitzroy St raising money for charity.

Yesterday i had the pleasure of spending some time listening to and recording some of Fay Anderson's memories and stories of her family's time in Nanango .
An interesting look into life running a country pub as a family, when they had the Fitzroy Hotel, building the Fitzroy Motel and their time at the Maidenwell Hotel.

Lovely morning this week chatting to Greg Cush about his memories of the area.

The sharing of some stories and memories of Roslyn Gregor

13/03/2025

Was sad to hear of the passing of Roslyn Gregor.

A while back I enjoyed recording Gloria Fleming, Roslyn Gregor and Len Bochmann as they reminisced about the hard work and fun times they and the other volunteers put in at Ringsfield House.

Thanks to Clive Lowe for his footage of Australia Day at Ringsfield House.

Time,
we can measure it, watch as it passes us by.
We can even try and save it by pushing it forward or moving it back but we can't stop it.
Nanango's time keeper and clock repairer John Rogers takes us on a journey back in time and around the world through some of the clocks and watches he has been working on.
Some of these pieces date as far back as the late 1700s and still tick away as they have done for a couple of hundred years
John's original trade was as a radio announcer, starting out in his home town of Longreach and eventually finishing at Kingaroy.
This video is made up of various clips from 3 different stories John did for this project .

Looking forward to sharing these full stories along with another 130 or more completed stories as well as a few still being worked on or in the pipeline soon.

Thanks to Heritage Community Branch Nanango, The Shed Nanango Inc and Jane Erkens of Nanango Real Estate for generously funding this project.

One of the first of the stories I had the pleasure of recording was that of Frank and Norma Nolan thanks for sharing some of your wonderful memories of Nanango and the surrounding areas.
I still remember the warmth and hospitality that you showed myself and little Charlie or was it the coolness of your air-conditioning on what was one of those extremely muggy high 30s summer days in Brisbane.
Sadly Frank has since passed away , I'm humbled to have been able to record some of his stories along with Norma's and that future generations of their families will get to hear his voice and watch him share his memories and they may get a little more understanding of who they are ,where they come from and a little more of the history of their family.
Much respect Frank and Norma.
