25/09/2026

We wanted to share this one because Australian Musician has been part of the fabric of Australian music for 30 years, and publications like this matter.

If you have spent any amount of your life playing in bands, buying instruments, going to gigs, recording music or simply being interested in how musicians actually make music, there is a fair chance Australian Musician has crossed your path somewhere along the way.

Greg Phillips has kept it going independently since taking ownership in 2023, and photographer Jason Rosewarne has spent the past 11 years documenting musicians for the publication. On Wednesday 2 December, those two stories come together for CAPTURED LIVE at Studio 52 / Empire Music Studios in Heidelberg West.

Jason will be exhibiting photographs from his years shooting Australian and international artists, followed by a live concert featuring Geoff Achison, Shannon Stephen Bourne, Jimi Hocking, Kathleen Halloran, Lloyd Spiegel, John McNamara, Andrea Marr and Joshua Batten, with more guests to come.

The concert is being recorded for a live album, so while Australian Musician is opening up part of its archive, they're also making something new.

There is another important reason to support it. $5 from every ticket, proceeds from the sale of Jason's framed photographs and proceeds from the planned live album will go to NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia.

Australian music needs people who document it, photograph it, write about it, record it and, perhaps most importantly, keep turning up.

Congratulations to Greg, Jason and everyone involved with Australian Musician on 30 years.
