💧How to Tell if Outdoor Clothing Is Actually Waterproof and Breathable

💦 Low quality garments often have waterproof ratings of 5,000mm (OK for a spray-jacket but not ideal for climbing mountains when it’s pi***ng down).

🧥There are plenty of brands similar to Gore-tex these days. Refer to their specs before buying.

🧴The waterproof treatment I used was Grangers (mentioned on the Gore-Tex website)
-Wash & Repel Clothing 2 in 1 (liquid)
-Performance Repel Plus (spray)

🧻 I researched seam tape and found Gore-Tex doesn’t endorse a brand of it. Apparently there’s issues with them not being able to stick to the membrane, especially Gore-Tex Paclite😭. I ordered something anyway. Follow to see how it goes.

How to avoid getting seasick🤮

🐋 The shot of the whale jumping was taken by staff on a previous trip.

🤮 The spewing shots were me spitting out last nights curry meatballs and rice. It sucked because it tasted good and I didn’t want to spit them out.

How to cook paperbark pork ribs🐖

🔥I was a bit short on firewood for this. Normally I dunk the paperbark in water first to reduce the amount it burns but I was worried it would take too much heat out of the coals.

How to motivate yourself to go for a run when you couldn’t be arsed🏃‍♂️

I think my usual run is about 20 minutes long plus a 20 minute cooldown walk.

I never look to see how long it takes because I don’t want the pressure of comparing one run to another. Just getting out there is enough.

Hard-core types might criticise this for lack of discipline but the key factor is I’ve done it almost every second day or so since I was a teenager. It’s much harder to keep up a hardcore routine indefinitely.
