Super proud of this young lad who managed to navigate and successfully engineer his First RemoteLink up voice session today in the studio.

These are particularly complex recording sessions which involve routing various signals around in order to link up studios and creative directors from different locations.

A huge welcome to Mel Shilling who is one of the psychologists for MAFS (Married At First Sight TV Show), Australia and UK.

Welcome back to Tim and his brother, Andrew!!

Tim’s vocal range is in the tenor which is a great compliment to his brother who is a baritone.

Tim is a wonderful songwriter and his daughter is a fantastic singer. They have done all of their original music with us over the past few years and we really appreciate their support as our business grows.

We had a chat recently with Prism Sound about our new ADA128 converter. This is the main system (apart from the computer) that drives the studio. I thought it'd be interesting to share some of it because not everyone knows the diverse work we do in our studio.

4. What kind of clients or projects do you usually work on?

We work on a broad spectrum of creative projects, with a strong emphasis on music production. That said, some of our most memorable sessions have come from working with international film stars. When actors are in Sydney for location shoots or press tours, we often handle their ADR for ongoing film projects.
One of my personal favourites was working with Elisabeth Moss from The Handmaid’s Tale. She was a joy to work with — kind, down-to-earth, and insanely talented. Her ADR sync and accents were astonishing. Stew’s calm and friendly demeanour is a hit with these stars — he never gets fazed by the fame, and they love that.

5. Do you have a favourite moment or story from a session that really stuck with you?

Stew’s highlight was working with Dacre Montgomery from Stranger Things. At first, he didn’t realise who Dacre was, until a director’s daughter jumped on the link to fangirl him — it was a hilarious moment!
As for me, I’ll never forget recording the real Siri. Yes — that Siri. Making tea for her, chatting about her experience, and hearing her voice in real life was surreal. And yes, she was just as captivating in person as I’d hoped. 😄

Hello friends in the USA.

I'm building a rare vintage audio compressor (UA 176 for those who are into that kinda stuff) and there is a component which is extremely hard to find and ONLY in the USA. API 361 VU meter (It's fairly small but critical to the build).

The seller won't send outside of the USA. Grrr.

Is there anyone who could receive it for me and then divert to the other side of the planet? Pwitttty please.

It was lovely to have these two talented people in the studio today. On the left is Armine and she is an incredible Armenian opera singer and composer. On the right is Marc who is a wonderful Musician and played crystal Bowls and flute today. He is also a music therapist.

They worked on two wonderful pieces which were hauntingly beautiful . They also performed an improvised piece in the studio where Armine sang as Marc played the crystal balls.

Congratulations to Stew who completed all the beautiful sound design compositions that you will hear when you visit the new Sydney Botanical Gardens Calyx Exhibition called Alchemy of a Rainforest.

Stew is pictured with Hayley Smithers-Kirk (project creative manager, interpretations and placemaking). Hayley is amazing!! She has given the Studio many creative projects of this nature and we’ve worked very closely with her to create compositions throughout Taronga Zoo, too. Hayley is a superwoman. She has five kids, authors children’s books, and is married to Sydney Swans AFL player, Brett Kirk!

The second photo is of Stew with Simon Duffy, who is the chief executive officer of the Sydney botanical Gardens. Simon has spent 27 years with the Taronga Zoo and has been awarded the Order of Australia medal.
