Meta Ads is one of those platforms where you can set things up, walk away and convince yourself it's fine. Until it's not.

We check client accounts every day or two, but here are the three things that are a non-negotiable every single week, across every account:

1️⃣ Cost per result. Is it trending up, down or holding steady? One week doesn't tell you much but a trend over two or three weeks tells you everything. If costs are creeping up, something needs attention.

2️⃣ Frequency. How many times is the same person seeing your ad? Once it starts pushing past 3, your audience is getting tired of it. If this is happening, consider exploring fresh creative or a broader audience.

3️⃣ Creative performance. Which ads are doing the work and which ones are just spending budget? We look at click-through rate and cost per result side by side. If an ad is getting clicks but no conversions, it's attracting the wrong people.

If you're running Meta Ads and not checking these weekly, it's time to start! And if you'd rather someone else did it, you know where we are. 😉

When I first started in marketing, I felt like a golden retriever at a tennis match. Head snapping left, right, left, right. 😂

Excited about everything. Understanding none of it.

New tools every week. Algorithm updates every other day. And 101 people all saying the same thing, just slightly differently. So rather than trying to follow everyone, I narrowed my focus and picked a handful of people I genuinely admired, trusted and kept coming back to...

👉 Here are my top 5 and why:

🙏 Grace Andrews - Former Brand Director at Steven Bartlett's Diary of a CEO. Community over audience and the shift to a creator's mindset. Her YouTube channel has also become part of my weekly routine.

🙏 Grace Experiments - Also from the DOAC world. She taught me that not knowing something is ok. We can't read minds. The job is to test everything, accumulate data and hedge your bets in the direction that data pulls you.

🙏 Jon Loomer - Simplified the whole Meta Ads process for me. Joined his groups, became a lifetime member and never looked back.

🙏 Kaity Griffin - Her Profitable Promotion course is Google Ads done properly. Big, complex audits and processes broken into structured mini lessons with clear weekly and monthly optimisation steps. The kind of thing that just makes you better at what you do.

🙏 Dr Nici Sweaney and AI Her Way - If you want to understand how AI can fit into your own processes and workflows at your own pace, she is amazing. I'm part of her VIP Build Club and my biggest takeaway so far? Simplify your approach, build the foundation and then shoot for the stars.

These might not be your jam and that's fine. But if you ever want to chat or send through your favourites, I'm always looking for the next best thing. Reach out anytime. 🤗

If you saw our most recent reel, you might be able to guess that Anth is a little obsessed with colour. The psychology behind it, the way colours complement each other, and the impact a simple palette change can have on the overall feel of a brand. 🙌

One of his latest reads is The Secret Lives of Colour by Kassia St Clair, which looks at how colour shapes emotion and influences the way we feel.

In our branding questionnaire we ask, 'Are there any colours or emotions we should avoid in the build of your brand?' for that very reason.

Colour is not just visual, it can shape how people feel about your brand, often without them even realising. What colours create the right feeling? What connection are we trying to build? What do we want people to feel when they land on your website, see your socials or walk into your space?

It is something we always think about when building brands. But Anth is usually the only one being kept awake by the possibilities 😅

We went colour hunting while on a recent shoot at Auburn Megamall, Adam had a particularly unique approach to the exercise.

We’ve officially been invited to join the OpenAI Ads Manager Beta Program. 👏🏻

Think your brand showing up when people are asking ChatGPT for recommendations, products or services.

The ad format feels a little more like a right-column Meta placement than Google Ads (if that means anything to anyone).

If you’d like to be one of the first businesses to trial this, shoot me a message and let’s chat!

**Note that while we are really keen to start testing this platform and exploring what opportunities it can create for clients, I am not ready to actively start managing accounts just yet! 💙Michelle

Are you a background noise person? Do you throw on a TV show or a movie 📺 ? Do you listen to music 🎵 and if so does it have to be instrumental or with vocals? Or, are you someone who needs COMPLETE AND UTTER SILENCE 🤫 to focus?

It's so interesting to hear how everyone has a different approach that works for them, and how malleable that can be given the situation. We get pretty accustomed to working in our cars, or if we're lucky, a cafe between meetings and shoots. But when we're tucked away safely in our offices, here's what works for us:

Anth: My ideal is an old movie or TV show I've seen a thousand times. A nice, gentle comedy that is loud enough to massage the distractible parts of my brain, but not so engrossing that I will stop and watch. However, if I'm working on something that demands all of my senses, like an audio-heavy video edit or a particularly difficult email, it has to be complete silence; no sounds, not even any notifications. I call this goblin mode. 👿

Michelle: My ideal would be silence. If my brain is feeling particularly buzzy, I like having music in soundproof headphones. But it must be music I have heard a thousand times before. My current choice is the Hours album by Funeral For A Friend. I went through a phase of watching TV while working, it was always The Office, but I have too many meetings for that to be a productive environment haha

Laura: I need silence. I wish I could listen to music or even an audiobook. But my brain talks to me all day, every day.

Adam: Working on socials allows for a light bit of music, always adds a pep to my step in the morning. But in the land of google and meta ads, it starts with music but very quickly moves to silence, haha

How about you? What works for you? 📺🎵🤫?

When developing brand guides for our clients, we typically recommend 4–6 colours in a brand palette. 🎨

Why? Too many colours and your brand can start to feel inconsistent or messy. Too few and you may struggle to create variation in your brand.

A strong colour palette helps your brand feel cohesive wherever it appears, while still giving you flexibility, contrast and room to play.

Just finished Kaity Griffin's Profitable Promotion course and I'm officially a Google Ads Legend (the biscuit said so, can't argue). 🫣

Meta Ads is one thing. Google Ads is a whole different beast. More options, more drop downs, more "wait, what does THAT setting do" moments. Ten levels deep in a campaign and you're still finding new things to optimise.

Worth every late night though.

Sharper account structures, smarter bidding, and a much better handle on where the money's actually going.

👉 If you've got a Google Ads account that needs a fresh pair of eyes, give us a shout and we can get lost together.

- Adam 💚

🙏 P.S. Can confirm the biscuit was 3 months old. Tasted accordingly. Still ate it. Still a legend.
