BRAD Widdup will officially be recognised tomorrow as leading trainer at Hawkesbury Race Club Limited for the season just gone.

And while the second event has been named after him (Champion Trainer Brad Widdup Provincial Maiden), the race he really wants to win is the Listed Pioneer Services Rowley Mile at his home track.

Widdup has never previously had a runner in the $200,000 feature, one of Hawkesbury’s historic races which was first run in 1881 – but will have two representatives.

He will saddle Ruby Flyer (Dylan Gibbons) and Hasty Honey (Rachel King). Read more 👇 📸 Bradley_Photos https://www.provincialracingnsw.com.au/post/widdup-s-two-rowley-mile-hopes

IT’S not always the easiest assignment to name a horse.

So when Hawkesbury Race Club Limited husband & wife trainers Phil and Tara Vigouroux submitted what they thought were good names for a Showtime gelding and had them all rejected, one of the owners came up with a simple solution.

“Because his stable name is Shane, one of his part-owners said why not call him Just Shane?,” co-trainer Tara Vigouroux said.

Now a five-year-old and having only his sixth start, Just Shane won his second race when successful at Bathurst yesterday in the BM50 Handicap (1406m) at double figure odds ($15). Read more 👇 https://www.provincialracingnsw.com.au/post/he-s-just-shane-not-by-any-other-name

Newcastle Racecourse excitement machine Private Harry has come back “much stronger” for his path to the $20m The Everest at Royal Randwick in October.

That was the assessment of the unbeaten four-year-old’s jockey Ash Morgan, who has partnered him in all five wins, culminating with the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens in March.

A week later than planned because of the wet weather, Private Harry trounced his rivals at Gosford yesterday in the first of two trials planned by his trainer Nathan Doyle leading to a resumption at Randwick next month. WHEN it comes to toughness, Denim Wynen takes some beating – and so do her horses!

The Wyong Race Club based mother of two is making a real name for herself in the training ranks, and has completed a weekend on the track to remember.

After winning a race in town at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday at a second successive Saturday city meeting, she doubled up by also scoring on her home track yesterday.

All this after undergoing a hernia operation last Monday.

“I was back at the track the following morning,” Wynen said today. “The horses had to be worked." Read more 👇 📸 Bradley_Photos

Stephen O’Halloran was closely associated with a bevy of G*i Waterhouse’s Golden Slipper winners and another when Adrian Bott became her training partner.

So it was fitting that the Hawkesbury Race Club Limited trainer’s Saturday metropolitan breakthrough should also be at Rosehill Gardens, the home of the world’s richest two-year-old classic.

That came when the affable Irish expat scored in the BM78 (1100m) with Mal Coupe ($15), having taken the lightly-raced gelding from a Bathurst Maiden victory in late May to now two city triumphs; the previous at a Canterbury midweek on July 23. Rosehill was a happy hunting ground for our Provincial trainers, taking out three of the 10 races on the day.

Hawkesbury Race Club Limited's Stephen O’Halloran trained his first Saturday Metro winner when Mal Coupe scored in the 1100m BM78 ridden by Winona Costin 👇

A victory by Denim Wynen's Monkhana in the 1500m Midway BM72, gave the young Wyong Race Club trainer her second Metro Saturday win in as many weeks.

While Kris Lees Racing's Cloudland victory in the 1200m BM94, gave the Newcastle Racecourse based trainer his fifth win for the new season 📸Bradley_Photos

Kris Lees Racing concedes Adelaide River’s rivals will probably be a “bit slick” for him, but still expects his spring aspirant to run well at Rosehill Gardens today.

The highly-regarded import belatedly begins a new campaign – as a gelding and with a tongue tie – in the Spring Preview Handicap (1400m), with Gibbons aboard.

Adelaide River, after two impressive 1200m trial wins at Wyong in June and Gosford last month, was to have kicked off in the Premier’s Cup Prelude (1800m) at Royal Randwick last Saturday, but the meeting was abandoned because of rain and his trainer chose not to run him when the race was postponed to the Kensington track midweek. Newcastle Racecourse’s The Everest contender Private Harry will finally trial a week later than planned – but at a different venue.

A further rescheduling of Rosehill Gardens trials has led to the unbeaten young sprinter’s connections changing intent.

Private Harry now will contest a 1000m Open trial on the Gosford course proper on Monday instead of going to Rosehill Gardens. Read more 👇 Kurrinda Bloodstock Syndications

TALENTED Kembla Grange Racecourse mare Our Gold Hope is expected to be “very competitive” when she begins a new campaign at Rosehill Gardens tomorrow.

Last year’s Group 1 Queensland Oaks runner-up has her first start as a five-year-old in the Spring Preview Handicap (1400m), with Tommy Berry aboard.

“Our Gold Hope has never resumed at 1400m, but I’m really liking her inside barrier,” Luke Price, who co-trains with his father Rob, said. Read more 👇 📸 Bradley_Photos Price Racing
