Kris Lees Racing is banking on an important gear change helping Rivellino “jump” into Group 1 company ay Caulfield today.

The leading Newcastle Racecourse trainer has opted to race this year’s Inglis Millennium winner without blinkers in the $3m Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

“I’m hoping taking blinkers off will enable Rivellino to jump cleanly,” Lees said. Read more 👇 https://www.provincialracingnsw.com.au/post/blinkers-come-off-rivellino-for-guineas-assignment

TALENTED Hawkesbury Race Club Limited mare Lady Extreme will wind up a successful campaign, and connections haven’t lost faith in fellow mare, Kembla Grange Racecourse’s Group 1 placegetter Our Gold Hope.

That was the news this morning from respective trainers Blake Ryan Racing & Luke Price about their representatives at tomorrow’s Rosehill Gardens meeting.

Lady Extreme chases a fourth city win this preparation in the Group 3 The Nivison (1200m) against her own s*x, and last year’s Queensland Oaks runner-up Our Gold Hope looks to bounce back in the $2m Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) at weight-for-age. WHEN the going gets tough, the tough get going!

It’s a well worn proverb (and a 1986 Billy Ocean hit as well) which surely applies to yesterday’s Hawkesbury Race Club Limited winner Nesrine.

Jason Attard's four-year-old mare, bred by Kate Nivison’s Etak Thoroughbreds, made a successful return to racing with an impressive victory in the 1100m Provincial Maiden.

Ridden by Tommy Berry, Nesrine ($7.50) didn't her rivals a look-in, racing away in the straight to lead home a local trifecta. Read more 👇 https://www.provincialracingnsw.com.au/post/mare-overcomes-fractured-skell-to-break-her-rivals

MARK Minervini’s first-up success with Rubi’s Serve on the Kensington track yesterday carried extra significance for the Newcastle Racecourse trainer.

Not only was it his maiden victory on Royal Randwick’s inside track, but also a new season breakthrough.

And despite the fact Minervini’s first winner for nearly three months was a $26 outsider, he wasn’t surprised about the result.

Ridden by Lee Magorrian, Rubi’s Serve defeated Mamushka ($5) and $3.60 favorite Fleeting Spirit in the Benchmark 72 Handicap (1250m) for fillies and mares. Read more 👇 📸 Bradley_Photos Minervini Racing https://www.provincialracingnsw.com.au/post/rubi-gives-rivals-a-serve-for-minervini

Hawkesbury Race Club Limited's leading trainer Brad Widdup is seeking his 60th success at home today.

And his best chance of doing that shapes clearly as impressive debutante winner Young Mister Grace, who lines up in the ###X Gold CG&E Benchmark 64 (1100m).

Of his 427 career wins, Newcastle Racecourse has been Widdup’s winningest track to date with 60 victories.

Young Mister Grace, a three-year-old Anders c**t, can equal that for his trainer when he attempts to double up on his Super Maiden (1000m) victory at home on September 25 when he had three and a quarter lengths to spare on his rivals as a well-supported $1.50 hotpot. DALE Wagstaff obviously has the key to backing up horses.

The Newcastle Racecourse trainer had no qualms about saddling up his seven-year-old mare Ellenmac at Goulburn yesterday after being beaten at Mudgee three days earlier.

And his move paid off for a second time in less than a week when she won her first race in three and a half years.

At her 52nd start – and 27th for Wagstaff – Ellenmac ($19), ridden by Shaun Guymer, broke through in the Benchmark 58 (1600m). Read more 👇 📸 Bradley_Photos https://www.provincialracingnsw.com.au/post/wagstaff-s-back-ups-prove-successful

Newcastle Racecourse turned up four Provincial winners yesterday, including a home track double to Nathan Doyle, well celebrated by owners 👇

Emalyn brought up the first leg of the Doyle double in the 1300m Provincial Maiden, with Lightning Glory scoring in the next race, the 1250m 4YO & Up Maiden.

Kris Lees Racing tasted success with Power Of The Brave in the 900m BM68, while The Entertainment Grounds Adam Duggan scored with former Hong Kong galloper All Hunky Dory.

Newcastle's Dale Wagstaff had a successful foray to Goulburn claiming the 1600m BM58 with Ellenmac

GUN Melbourne jockey Craig Williams will ride c**t Rivellino in Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

Leading trainer Kris Lees Racing confirmed Williams’ booking for the $3m feature before flying to Melbourne last to watch his three-year-old gallop this morning at Caulfield.

However, Williams won’t partner Rivellino in his gallop as he will be in Sydney to partner 20-times winner and near $18m earner Mr Brightside in a star-studded The Everest and King Charles 111 1000m trial (featuring Hong Kong champ Ka Ying Rising) on the Royal Randwick course proper. PRIVATE Harry’s spring campaign is over.

The four-year-old’s Newcastle Racecourse trainer Nathan Doyle notified RacingNSW stewards today that the star sprinter will not run in Saturday week’s $20m The Everest (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

Private Harry pulled up 2/5 lame in his near foreleg after finishing fifth to Briasa in last Saturday’s Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick, and will return to Sydney later this week and be further assessed at Randwick Equine Centre. Hawkesbury Race Club Limited’s talented sprinter Jedibeel has earned a berth in the $20m The Everest field.

Leading trainer Brad Widdup confirmed Mulberry Racing had decided the gelding would run in their slot in Saturday week’s feature.

Jedibeel ran home strongly when fourth to fellow Everest rival Briasa in yesterday’s $1m Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

The Premiere was a weight-for-age contest, and The Everest will be run under the same conditions.

Jedibeel is already a winner at wfa, having produced a dazzling turn of foot to take the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on March 8 when on resumption. Read more 👇 Bradley_Photos

HUNTER syndicator Australian Bloodstock has already won the Melbourne Cup twice – and now is looking to have a three-strong representation in a bid to win the great race again.

Yesterday’s Royal Randwick Group 1 The Metropolitan winner Royal Supremacy appears certain to join Al Riffa (59kg) and Vauban (56.5kg) in the first ever $10m Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 4.

Al Riffa, who won the Group 1 Irish St Leger at The Curragh on September 14 in Australian Bloodstock colours for the first time, is currently $5 second favorite for the Cup behind yesterday’s Flemington Group 1 Turnbull Stakes winner Sir Delius ($3.50).

Vauban, an unlucky The Metropolitan fifth yesterday, is at $18 and Royal Supremacy was a dramatic shortener from $101 to $26. Read more 👇
