Remember me and smile, for its better to forget than to remember me and cry. 🌈

Last Sunday, our boy Ned passed peacefully over the rainbow bridge.

He made sure he ate breakfast, saw the Hunter Valley Gardens and let us leave the house before laying to rest on our bed with Tarty by his side.

His spirit was strong but his body was tired and couldn’t go on.

He was a dog no one wanted but one photo had us driving to meet his foster carers coming down from Brisbane.

Ned wasn’t perfect (especially at home) but he would charm everyone he met wherever he went humans and dogs alike.

In 8 years he had ACL surgery, back surgery, three legs and one eye but it didn’t stop this kid … and just a few weeks short of two years since his cancer diagnosis - he was a resilient bu**er.

We took a chance on a rescue dog we really didn’t know much about and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

We miss him dearly but I find comfort knowing that we have him a good life after a horrible start.

There is also special little girl called Puff 🦄 that has been waiting patiently over the rainbow bridge that can’t wait to see her brother again.

Sometimes rescue is more than just saving one dog.

Sometimes it’s taking the chance to educate a room full of young professionals on what they can do personally and professionally to make a difference to abandoned animals in their community.

The first ever Buddy's grant from SavourLife !

The mission that Savourlife are on to support volunteer run rescue groups and make Australia "No Kill" has been amazing to watch.

From a simple idea to an exploding Australian company donating 50% of profits to rescue groups but also life changing grants.

I was lucky enough to have met Buddy before he passed and you could see the connection he had with founders Michael and Kim.

To be able to have been involved with them and capture some of these moments for them has been amazing.

Enjoy every moment.

Today I found out one of my adoptions Frankie had collapsed after a routine walk and tragically passed away.

He had only been with his family 13 months but they were full of love and family with a very special connection with his mum who was with him till the end.

Talking his mum through the grief and trying to make sense of it all was tough as she is beyond complete devastation.

Our job doesn’t finish with the final adoption but is ongoing support, advice and love.
Run Free Frankie I’m glad you found the love you needed if only for a short time. 💔🌈
