💥 Let's Talk Trauma Patterns 💥
🚩 Do You Recognise Any Of These Toxic Traits and Coping Mechanisms? 🚩
Narcissism: 🌟 The inability to see things from others' perspectives, always putting yourself at the center. Narcissists believe they deserve more than everyone else and have an excessive need for admiration, often placing too much value on their own appearance.
Machiavellianism: 🕵️♂️ A two-faced, manipulative approach. People with this trait will deceive and exploit others to achieve their own goals, being nice to your face but not when you're not around.
Psychopathy: 😈 A lack of empathy and emotion, with no remorse for hurting others. Psychopaths use cheating strategies without concern for the consequences.
Gaslighting: 🔄 Manipulating someone to make them doubt their own reality. Gaslighters avoid responsibility for their toxic behavior by lying, denying, and making you question your memory and feelings.
People-Pleasing: 🙋♀️ Always putting others first at your own expense, often violating your own values to gain approval. This behavior usually stems from childhood, where it was a way to receive love and attention.
Anger or Attacking Others: 😡 Using anger to feel significant or in control, often masking deeper feelings of fear or hurt. It’s a way to regain power when feeling out of control.
Dissociation: 🚶♀️ Disconnecting from reality during stressful events, avoiding the experience of trauma. This can lead to a lack of presence in intimate relationships and focusing solely on others’ needs instead of your own.
Over-Apologising: 🙇♀️ Constantly saying sorry, often learned from childhood or due to a belief that something is inherently wrong with you. It’s a way to seek validation and approval.
Emotional Avoidance: 🚫🗣️ Holding back your emotions because you don’t feel safe expressing them, often rooted in childhood experiences where feelings weren’t validated.
Shaming Yourself or Others for Negative Emotions: 😔 Learned in childhood, this is a belief that emotions are bad. You may suppress your feelings instead of fully expressing them.
Struggling to Enforce Boundaries: 🚧 Difficulty saying “no” due to fear of losing love or changing someone’s perception of you. Often seen in those who didn’t learn how to set boundaries from their parents.
Emotional Shutdown: 🛑 Disengaging when you can’t control a situation, leading to disconnection from others. This can occur when you no longer feel seen, heard, or understood.
📝 Which of these coping strategies do you rely on under stress? What triggers it? What do you need to learn or believe to change it? Why must this change happen now? 🌱💪
