Sleep D • Sep 25 • Second Story Studios

Sonic explorers, label heads and pillars of the Melbourne/Naarm underground, Sleep D explore the rave unconscious - driving rhythms, hypnotic bass, worlds of echo and the hazy bliss of the morning after. Childhood friends Maryos Syawish and Corey Kikos have built Butter Sessions into a defining force in the city’s scene, issuing a steady stream of records on their own imprint as well as international outposts Incienso, Planet Euphorique and Cocktail d’Amore to name a few. Their albums ‘Rebel Force’ (2019) and ‘Electronic Arts’ (2023) bind a singular take on mutated house, bush doof, dub techno and downtempo, alongside credits spanning a chamber orchestra collaboration and rescored soundtracks for Eraserhead and Pan’s Labyrinth. With long-standing residencies and a live show built for both clubs and vast paddocks, the duo have energised crowds across the US, UK, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Guy Contact is a fixture of Australian dancefloors, with a discography stretching back years across labels including Leipzig’s R.A.N.D. Muzik and local favourite Butter Sessions, with tracks like ‘Sacred Mist’ finding their way onto Resident Advisor’s Top 100 chart. A regular across Melbourne’s most storied parties, from Refresh’s park sessions to lineups alongside Sleep D and Kuniyuki, his sets draw on deep, proggy house with a selector’s ear for the long game.

Gallery takes over a 900 cap warehouse in Collingwood this Grand Final Eve, headlined by Sleep D, Cousin and FUKHED alongside Guy Contact, Hannah D, Char and With Ess.

Labour Day Long Weekend, Carousel Club, DJ SWISHERMAN [ES], FUKHED, DEAF TOUCAN, DAYZZI

Gallery kicks off Sydney’s long weekend at the city’s premiere club Carousel this October 3rd.

DJ SWISHERMAN touches down from Madrid via Mondo Disko residency, RSO, Watergate Berlin, and Boiler Room Copenhagen - funk-driven hardgroove and techno built for the long haul.

FUKHED brings techno and late-night melancholia straight off a Mixmag ANZ cover and triple j Unearthed feature, fresh from debut headline shows and touring Japan/SEA.

Deaf Toucan round out the local lineup with deeply swung, ‘90s house and prog-inspired grooves out of Sydney/Eora.

dayzzi closes the circle with her eclectic, diaspora-drawn blend of tribal techno, breaks and global club sounds.

Monday’s a public holiday, so there’s every reason to enjoy a dance.

Black Dave is an emerging act bursting out of the scene here in Naarm. As a DJ, promoter and producer, Dave has carved out a presence in the community through a dedicated approach to dance music. Well known for his versatility, constantly blending various styles and BPMs, he takes musical inspiration from a diverse array of styles both old and new. His productions have landed releases on HOUZ, Transition, Dionysian Mysteries, Deadline Records as well as OBSCUUR and they continue to be played by many across the globe. Recent peak time performances at Beyond The Valley and Intercell Melbourne has seen Dave reach new heights with his DJing, so we’re stoked to have him throw down for us.

Gallery returns to Miscellania this Friday the 28th. Focusing on the country’s finest selectors playing long sets in our favourite club in Naarm, this time we welcome stand-out exports and local pillars Mabel, Thrill (fka suki) and Black Dave, three artists widely known for their forward thinking dance music productions and performances locally and beyond.
