Is our identity based in our work?

I’ve heard a lot of things over the years, along the lines that our work doesn’t define us. Don’t place our identity in what we do.

But maybe this is a bit one sided.

Let me explain my thoughts here.

Going back to the garden of Eden, God created man in His image, and then placed him in the Garden with a job to do. No sin. No Satan. But an identity, an image, and a task that comes from purpose.

And then God brought the animals along so Adam could name them. But it says that God wanted to see what Adam would call them.

Why would God want to see what Adam would call them? Everything has just been created by God and he’s interested in what some human calls his creation? Why didn’t God tell Adam what the names were? And why did God accept those names Adam gave?

I don’t know about you but I don’t have a religious opinion why the all powerful creator cares and is willing to sign off on what some human does as though it’s correct.

But what if the image of God on the man is the official stamp that God used to give Adam the right to name things. And God recognised what Adam did.

What if this is very relevant for us today. We are taught that what we do as humans is incomparable to God, and often we struggle with an inferiority complex, and are brow beaten by religion that our work is only temporary. A way of earning a living so we can pass our time and get to heaven.

My view is that if work was so temporal, then why is there such a focus that God puts on it in the garden of Eden?

Sure, what we do isn’t who we are. But it sorta is.

What we do comes FROM who we are, but we are designed by God to do (work) what’s inside of us.

If we never did anything, in a way, our purpose would be incomplete.

But in saying this, redefining work back to what our designed function is, based on purpose and identity, will get us doing the things that come from within, the things God has given us to do, AND he’s well pleased with.

I’m not putting works in as a basis of my acceptance with God. He accepts me in Christ based on the WORK Jesus did, but there’s a necessary WORK I must do, based on who I am in Him, and based on my identity in Him and defined by Him.

Just some thoughts for you. Don’t let work define you, but you need to define your work. Get to know what God has redeemed you for. Live in the purpose He has made for you. Seek it out. It’s not an overnight thing. It’s a journey of discovery!

How much is our work our witness for Christ?

Having been in the trade for 26 years as a fitter and machinist, I’ve had my share of conversations with blokes on the job about the Lord. But it’s certainly not everyday, or every week, but from time to time someone comes on the radar to share a little extra conversation with other than the job and the weather.

Recently I had the pleasure of working alongside some blokes at a company on a project together, and it came up in conversation about church. And then Jesus.

One of the fellas asked me a lot of questions on my own personal life, and even questions about s*x in marriage, and whether I look at other women in a lustful way.

It would have been easy to say “keep it professional” but for this fella I weighed up whether to give him straight answers to his questions as a direct witness and example of my life and how I see the gospel to be relevant to all areas of behaviour even in private.

We talked about how men are inwardly crippled by p**n addictions, and how society lacks the conscience voice because private lives are compromised.

I have found it better to be bold and tackle tough subjects head on. People need to see all the gospel message, not just what we say or present on sundays, they need to see the sacrifice and personal convictions that play out daily.

In my time on the tools, it’s been a joy to see how the Lord impacts people differently. We carry His presence.

One young apprentice said to me the other day, when we were oiling up the lathe, he said “you’re the only tradie here that hasn’t made a crude joke about the lubrication, everyone else would have made several jokes by now”. I answered him “Ah well I’ve been around for ages and have heard it all before haha”.

But what he was getting at is that he could tell there was a difference, and in 15 minutes of working with this bloke there was an influence that would shape him to focus on the job, being a better tradesman, and leave a witness intact for later if the gospel message was shared.

We need to be lights (visible and shining the way) and also salt (subtle flavour, enhancing other flavours). No meal is 100% salt, and too much light is blinding, but in the consistency of being salt and light we can add flavour to bland days and help act as beacons in the night to help others guide their course away from the rocks.

Let your light so shine before men. Be the real deal. Live what you believe, and the Lord will bring others into your influence when you let Him shine.

Be different. Don’t be ashamed.

I have (maybe) a warning from the Lord in a vivid dream just now (2:30am) so I have removed the post from last night about Naboth’s vineyard and my opinion on Gaza.

There is something at work here. Maybe I can share my dream and why I removed the post.

I’m going to take the approach that everything in the dream is symbolic.

There was a fairly large church auditorium and the band was rehearsing on the stage as usual, kinda like a sound check. They were synonymous with a trumpet somehow in the dream, whereby collectively as a whole they had one trumpet to carry.

There was a whirlwind that came into the building and wrapped itself around the band and turned them into a rabid dog with a trumped, that proceeded to race around the building completely out of control until it smashed all the stuff in the building and raced outside.

When it was outside I saw this rabid dog with the trumpet become so insane and deranged that I marvelled at the complete lack of self awareness where it ran at reckless speed without any regard for its own life off cliffs.

It somehow survived all these antics and never came to its senses.

But the rabid dog with trumpet ran out on a suspension bridge that began to fall apart.

As the bridge started to fall apart the dog de-transformed back into people who were in grave danger and some had already fallen from the pieces of the bridge into a situation prepared below.

Those who had fallen had fallen into a big pool of sharks, not that I saw the sharks but knew it was supposed to be a calamity set up of one thing after another to kill those who would fall.

I saw this was a terrible setup of trap after trap, like the movie “a series of unfortunate events.”

I marvelled how this whole event had transpired to get the church band into a death trap, by transforming it into a rabid dog that would self destruct - almost like a stupor on the dog to not realise its own peril until too late.

The church leadership was shocked that this happened to their church members and began to make inquiry how had this happened?

While they were away there was a few young people who had come in and irresponsibly taught some teachings they’d heard from others and were oblivious to the effect they had caused.

The dream ended there, but I was awoken by a fear that the setup of all this was so vivid and so shocking that I myself wondered if I could be caught in a trap of this situation, or worse yet a causer of this situation.

In complete honesty the situation in this dream captured something that my spirit knows but my mind had not found the way to see it or express it.

No matter what we are looking at, there’s clearly a demonic whirlwind (a spiritual curse it seems) on the news and world information, and including that which comes from influential sources, so that the spirit of this whirlwind of info causes a collective stupor and derangement and losing of order and normal purpose that turns well meaning people into rabid dogs that once the stupor clears, they realise they may be in grave danger. Certainly onlookers can see the rabid nature ignores normal warning signs and so possesses this dog that it has lost all reason.

The suspension bridge partial collapse seems to represent going out on a certain viewpoint or narrative that looks OK from the start but begins to collapse and prevent return to safety. I can clearly see this is possible. What looks strong becomes weak, and dangerous.

The big pool below seems to represent a situation of certain death but maybe not instant. There are onlookers enjoying the show of watching people fall from a collapsing narrative into certain death, but maybe the death is slow and they enjoy watching people struggle to get away and hopefully escape. It’s like a Roman Coliseum I guess, where the whole thing is set up for certain death but maybe prolonged entertainment, knowing that escape is futile.

This dream represented an invented situation by sick creators who wanted to lure the church into a death trap, losing its prophetic voice, and becoming deranged, and to eventually watch it fragment into individuals who are suffering once the stupor wears off.

Can we get caught up in things or be witnessing a strategy of the devil at work where the church has become drawn into chaos and has lost or COULD lose its voice and cohesion, by external influences let into the building by young ignorant influencers and novices?

When I posted about my views of Naboth’s Vineayrd and some of my other views on that, I began to realise that there is a demonic whirlwind (I would say) that would take any of what I say and add it to the confusion and insanity that’s out there.

We all love the Lord and we all mean well and what I sense here is a demonic curse (a hex) put onto the presented information or teachings that are affecting us all to cause us to lose reason, and our “band practice”, our prophetic voice (the trumpet) and become out of control to not realise the WHIRLWIND is the problem. This created demonic storm that can catch any and all of us up in it to put us in great perils and danger.

I note that there are several Christian leaders and influencers very divided with very diverse views, and they are trying to engender followers or control the narrative they have chosen, and the Christian church as a whole is becoming caught in a whirlwind of stuff that will be dangerous for us to either add our voice to, or to adhere to a certain viewpoint or leader in a rabid fashion that will cause us to lose reason and put ourselves in grave danger, or be part of the problem for someone else.

I want to be un-tainted for the Lord. I don’t want to be silent in the face of evil. But I don’t want to be a voice that gives someone else confirmation for a bias that is part of a stupor that can lead any of us to danger.

The warfare is spiritual and there is a very real crossfire or cross-wind that once we step into it it is incredibly easy to be caught up in or be adding to.

Often times when I post something strong, that may be controversial in some way, I immediately can sense there’s warfare over that information. It has a very real effect - like putting up a sail in a wind, even if the boat is not ready, the wind beats on the sail and pushes sideways.

The Lord wants to establish us. This is a work of peace in our heart, even in a very troubling time.

I wish to not be a voice of division where it seems to be that we are all inside a manipulated paradigm of information where puppet masters are trying to reshape and reframe our world in demonic ways, but part of this strategy has been to give the church a demonic whirlwind that causes us to lose our peace and stop blowing the trumpet for the Lord but use the trumpet as a wild dog.

May the Lord establish and help us learn things from the Holy Spirit, not be afraid of standing truthfully for Him, and be watchful. I am doing well, and I trust you are too.

Letting the dust settle?

The Lord has not given me peace with giving a public commentary in any specifics at the moment on the events at hand in the USA. It’s hard not to buy in to “pick a side”. If you watch yesterday’s video I talked about how Haman had devised a wicked scheme by divination (devil power) that was almost very successful, to try destroy the Lord’s people - I believe that event speaks to these current events quite dramatically, if you’re getting my drift.

It’s daily a plot twist it seems. Deep division. Worldview clashes. Narrative control. Shills and even Christian leaders trying to control a Christian perspective and blaming genuine concerns as “demonic”. It’s all out there for debate it appears. This mass confusion and blame shifting is a known strategy to bombard minds and keep the waters muddy, AND steal our focus away from the work of the Lord, if possible.

In recent years we have seen retrospective channel strikes and wild investigations (witch hunts) into those who have previously disagreed with a current narrative. This happened to me in the last major crisis where my content was repeatedly flagged for things I said. There’s definitely a raising of the price for free speech, and my current view is trying to maximise encouragement without creating a bunch of content I regret or unnecessarily prevents the message of the Gospel having as much reach as possible while possible. Things may change in future and I get a ban along with others, but for now this seems to be the best angle.

These events are a very charged topic where Satan doesn’t want to lose control of minds, and as one who has to stand before the Lord accountable for words, I believe it’s not OK to do any sort of solidarity or stand with any cause or against any cause other than the Word of God.

This is part of the trap the enemy sets for us is to get us flaming hot (emotional) and bitter or skewed which he can use, lending our support for something now that comes out to be partly false later.

A great reminder from the book of Proverbs,
“The first to plead his case seems right, until another comes and examines him.”
— Proverbs 18:17

My intention is to stick to the Word and as much as I can speak to relevant things through a Word lens, so that it’s never going to be buying into a narrative. I do have some strong worldviews but I also have to admit I have changed some of them in more recent times. What I used to take a strong stance with in zeal, wisdom has been teaching me to yes stand with those things but there’s a way to do it that isn’t like trying to paint with a hammer.

Those who preach are responsible to edify and build up faith, not engender or leverage off public outcry but to stick to the Word of God, in a compassionate way that steers focus back to the Lord and His work IN us, and THROUGH us.

Some would see this as burying the head in the sand or being blind to issues at hand, but any minister of the Lord needs to be conserving their energies for discipling and staying in tune with the Holy Spirit and sharing what He says, not what the emotions dictate.

The Lord is looking for LONG TERM fruit from our nations and the enemy loves to huff and puff and make the rain come and winds blow and storm beat on our house to overthrow it. This is where multi-fronted attacks come that have been well coordinated. Notice how it’s not just the rain or the wind or the flood, it’s ALL of it together so that it overwhelms.

No let us take the whole armour of God and stand, my brothers and sisters. Be solid and stable. Get your foundations sorted. If you’re digesting deep things or working on sure-ing up your foundations in an area, maybe be quiet in those things, but share the universally applicable truths that you know and live, and do so in an encouraging way. We have this ministry to build one another up, and this does sometimes require us to tackle tough subjects or unlearn some preconceptions but we need to stick to the Lord and “having done all, stand”.!!

This morning’s coffee chat. I woke up with the word “Bochim” on my mind, and had to look it up in the Bible.

It’s a place in Judges 2 where the angel of the Lord visited the children of Israel and said that because they had disobeyed the Lord and made leagues with the nations of Canaan there would no longer be God’s promise fulfilled of driving out those nations but they would be “thorns and their idols snares” to them.

What I get from this passage is a lesson by extension to us today that we have to very very carefully steward our obedience to the Lord and not deviate from what He said to do, otherwise we’re in for all sorts of trouble.

The land of Canaan also represents areas of our lives that are not submitted to the Lord, but we have a job to bring every area of our life into submission to Him, lest those areas we fail to surrender end up becoming our deception and downfall, and possibly death.

The devil knows a successful strategy is to be ensnared in areas we love or have blind spots to, that are areas of our lust, or even an area that is a good thing but involves so much flesh and idolatry that it’s not clean to us unless we “put it through the cross”.

Our movies, and books and other materials that fills the void of entertainment can be either Ok or a snare to us.

I’m not talking about a life of having no fun, but the areas we don’t submit to the Lord are prime locations that Satan uses against us but we often can’t see the problem because it’s in our blind spot.

The enemy knew that one way to ensnare the children of Israel was by the Moabite women who introduced them to s*xual deviancy by worship to Baal Peor.

Another way was to blindside them by flattery where the men of Jabesh Gilead feigned themselves to be paupers from a long way away and heard of the fame of Israel and wanted to make a deal, but later the Israelites found out they were locals who set them up in a pride trap to preserve their lives.

This stuff is written for our learning and admonition so that we learn from their mistakes. Areas we don’t overcome in our own life become areas of failure.

God loves us so much He gives us His word and conviction to help us see things through these Old Testament stories, but speak much to areas in our own lives and journey of Faith.

Stay strong in the Word and keep eyes on Jesus.

The CK assassination tragedy seems like a psy op to me. Why? I don’t know yet, but lots doesn’t add up about this supposed suspect. Maybe that’s the point? Heartbreak, confusion, and also galvanising one group of people against another?

Jesus said take heed WHAT you hear, and also HOW you hear.

The Word commands us to not be ignorant of the devils devices. He’s a master conspirator.

The devil hits us right in our idol. But our response can be entirely un-Christlike if we partake in reactive measures because we are grieved. The devil’s attack factors in a “fleshly” reaction from us to give him what he wants. The devil aims for what’s precious to us to get maximum impact and create wounds and inner bitterness that we never get over, that he utilises later in our lives if we become bitter and twisted and seek revenge. I can speak these things because these are Biblical lessons in my own life I have learned the hard way, and see how it easily happens if we are unaware of the strategy.

We have to remember that the gospel we believe is also in laying down our life, not in vindicating, as the devil has laid traps for those who are blinded by rage. Being reviled we bless, the scripture says.

Remember David at Ziklag. The Amalekites took all the families of David’s men, and the people’s soul was so grieved that they spoke of stoning David.

We have to be able to take our griefs to the Lord. And also let the truth come out. We also need to shine in our own setting. God has placed all of us in our own world to shine for Him. We can take Charlie’s example of shining and do the same.

I also believe we need to stand up for our country against the works of darkness and evil laws, and make our voice known. We also have to realise the price for this may be very costly, but we give account to God ultimately.

Don’t throw your life into something, SOW it.

When we give our lives for the Lord, it’s not giving a cheap thing, it’s giving what’s precious to us, into His care.

We may not be able to control the outcome of the war, but we can lay down our lives for the cause we believe in. This means if we fall, we fall forward advancing the Kingdom and passing the baton onto the next runner.

God bless.

Self preservation is both at loggerheads with the gospel and also a promise given to us for believing it.

What do I mean? Jesus said if you love your life you’ll lose it, but if you lose your life for my sake and the gospels you will find it.

Also Jesus said that all who believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

We cannot preserve ourselves and keep our soul at the same time. Things have a price tag that ultimately can cost our soul - unless it’s God giving it to us.

Going about to preserve ourselves and our own reputation and glory will come with a heavy price.

But if we take all that we hold dear and offer it up to God and get on about what He purchased us for, we have His guarantee we will find our life there. Even if it means paying the ultimate price of dying for His sake. His causes and reasons transcends our own - not that our life has no value but a jigsaw puzzle piece finds ultimate value in the greater puzzle when it’s set in plac, not on its own.

Our efforts to preserve ourselves cause damage to others also. We become nasty when we have only our own survival in mind.

But to have God in mind, we can surrender our own best ideas for ideas greater than our own. A life greater than what we can scrape together for ourselves, and still find ourselves empty.

Why not trade that emptiness of soul for fulfilment with Jesus? Maybe there’s a price but it’s so small compared to all the reward He offers.

12/09/2025

Not all ideas are equal. Worldview is critical. Dialogue is important but not possible with those who are unreasonable. People may not be looking for a debate, but people want hope. Christianity isn’t confined to a wing of politics. Christians need to be able to articulate their worldview - not just “the end is nigh”. Strong ideas win, but the right ones may not be shouting the loudest…peace is also the right idea but doesn’t make much noise. Sometimes people need to be told the quiet part out loud. Just because the Kingdom is not OF this world, it doesn’t mean it’s not already IN the world. What we are taught in church meetings needs to have application and be road tested in the world. These best ideas are given by God - it’s scripturally referred to as “light”.

These are some key things (in no particular order) that I’ve been thinking about over the last while.

11/09/2025

What the devil intended for evil, we believe the Lord will turn for good.

Look to Jesus who endured such contradiction of sinners against him, who wrestled with his words, and laid in wait. They baited him, but they couldn’t trap him in his wisdom.

Jesus was looking beyond the difficulties, beyond the cross, to the glory to come. He saw the salvation of nations. He saw redemption. He saw cold hearts revived again with the fires of His Spirit. The nations are His inheritance.

We are encouraged to pick what purpose our lives will serve and (if necessary) be given for. I believe there is no greater cause than the Gospel message of salvation and transformation and the hope to come!

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
— Hebrews 12:1-2

All the Shed Gospel videos are now on YouTube, very grateful and thanks to Karen who has worked tirelessly on this task. It has been enormous. This is a great blessing to bring the content onto two platforms and also make sure that all is not lost if one channel had a problem.

I am busy these days but I do have a renewed interest in doing more videos soon. I think it’s important to encourage Australia with the Word of God.

I am looking forward to catching up with you on the channel again soon.

Hope - so hard to find, so easy to lose.

That’s why the helmet of salvation is called the helmet of HOPE of salvation. Why? Because mentally we need protection around our mind from all sorts of stray and dangerous thoughts that corrode our hope, steal our vision, and give us a mental picture of things going from bad to worse. And things do tend to go from bad to worse if we let those thoughts take over.

BUT - putting on the helmet of hope of salvation, our mind is protected by spiritual armour that defends our mind by a barrier of HOPE. Think on the hope of the Word of God. The will of God for you and me is to shine as a light in a dark world, an agent of heaven on earth, dwelling in the peace and favour of our Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ.

HOPE - that we can see the victory that overcomes the world by our faith. That no problem is too small, or too big, for God. Involving Him in our daily life is to find peace in the midst of storms, comfort in sorrow, and courage in adversity. We know how this will end. Not on a downward slide of destruction, but as surely as the Lord lives, the whole earth will be full of the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.

Keep standing! Keep overcoming. Keep believing what God has told you. Encourage yourself in the Lord. Put that helmet on in Jesus name!

Faith requires our decision to put it to work!

We might have been taught or believed something along the line that “well if it’s God’s will, it will just happen.”

However CHOOSING to believe God and His promises isn’t an automatic process, it’s a choice of our will to say “Yes Lord, I believe.”

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
— Romans 4:3

Believing God and using faith takes more than just hearing the Lord say something, or reading a promise in the Word, it is a decision to say “yep Lord, do it t in my life”. Many may hear the Lord say something to them. But choosing to believe involves our “buy in” into it to say “alright Lord, I believe You.”
