Adelaide River Inn🍻
Located 1.5hrs south of Darwin or 2 hours north of Katherine, in the township of Adelaide River.
Not anywhere near the Adelaide river croc tours…FYI
This pub is managed by the same people as the Daly Waters Pub.
They offer rooms, sites, a pool, bar, restaurant and service station.
We were lucky to get a site as we arrived late afternoon after visiting Berry Springs and Litchfield. The care taker was grumpy and didn’t want to offer us the site next to him because “we would be up rootin all night” and showed us to a “site” which was pretty much the exit driveway.
After much persuasion and an offering of a Captain Morgan and Coke can he gave in and we got a site worth paying for.
The beers were cold, the food was good and the atmosphere was chilled and calm.
‘Charlie’ is the water buffalo made famous as the beast Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan) hypnotises in the 1985 movie Crocodile Dundee. ‘Charlie’ was an Adelaide River resident where he had his own wallowing hole and plenty of company from adoring fans until sadly passing away in the year 2000, he is fondly remembered by NT locals, travellers and movie buffs. He can now be found standing proudly at one end of the 303 bar here at the Adelaide River Inn.
The ammenities block were modern and clean.
We went for a morning dip in the pool before a massive drive ahead of us.
The bacon and egg roles from the servo were good too!
