Preparing for a hot summer- The State Emergency Service never stops. 24/7 all 365 days of the year we are available to help our communities.

Members of the Northam and Districts State Emergency Service can be seen relaxing for a moment after checking out the equipment at the waterbomber cache for the coming fire season, ensuring it is all ready for instant use, at a recent training night.

They are ensuring everything is ready if it is needed this fire season.
If water bombers are required to use Northam Airport, members of the Northam and Districts State Emergency Service will be there to reload them with water, foam and retardant to fight the fires.
During the 2024-2025 harvest, the Grain Harvest Aerial Fleet attended 18 fires. The aircraft can drop up to 3150 litres of water, foam and retardant, and require just minutes to be reloaded by SES members.

Our members are trained in many roles, as they need to be prepared to respond to any natural disaster which may occur in their region. They also may travel to other regions to support State Emergency Service members in those areas.
