Legend Media Group is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations 澳中基金会 2023-24 grant to support the Chinese premiere of "M on the Bund," a compelling documentary chronicling the fascinating journey of Australian restaurateur Michelle Garnaut AO.
In 1998, Michelle leased the seventh floor of the iconic 1920s Nissin Shipping Building on Shanghai's Bund. By 1999, "M on the Bund" opened, featuring a terrace with stunning views of the Huangpu River. For 23 years, "M on the Bund" was more than just a restaurant; it became a cultural hub, hosting diverse events and attracting a wide array of guests, from expats and tourists to celebrities and dignitaries.
"Funny stories, sad stories, disasters, triumphs... I've had millions of them," reflects Michelle.
Directed and produced by Ms. Luo Tong of LostPensivos Films, known for The Six (executive produced by James Cameron about the untold stories of the six Chinese survivors on the Titanic), "M on the Bund" exemplifies the power of cross-cultural collaboration in storytelling.
A huge thank you to NFACR for their support. This prestigious grant program aims to foster, promote, and strengthen understanding and engagement between Australia and China. We are passionate about sharing stories like Michelle's that bridge cultures and inspire.
