Aussie citizen Dan Duggan, former pilot, is being held without conviction in maximum security prison

Today marks 1,460 days of Dan Duggan being locked in maximum security prison.
He is locked up with convicted criminals, despite not being convicted of any crime, despite facing zero Australian charges, despite the US specific allegations against him not being tested in court.

The United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, Rule 11 states that: “(b) Untried prisoners shall be kept separate from convicted prisoners”.

Dan was also kept in solitary confinement for 19 months: Rule 43 states that - “The following practices, in particular, shall be prohibited: (b) Prolonged solitary confinement”.

The world was a different place 14 years ago when Dan worked for a short time as a test pilot instructor in South Africa.

Dan Duggan was secretly indicted in the US in 2016/2017 and arrested in Australia in 2022 for allegedly training China pilots. He denies all the charges against him and the flight school TFASA has declared all training conducted at the time was open source. No-one else has been charged.

Dan faces no charges in Australia. His extradition relies on Australia applying retrospective charges linked loosely to laws passed in 2018.

Dan has been an Australian permanent resident since 2002 and became an Aussie citizen in 2012. He has 6 Australian born children and an Australian wife.

Dan faces zero charges in Australia, and his extradition to the US relies upon Australia applying retrospective charges.

The allegations against him have not been tested in court and cannot be in Australia.

The government and A-G have the power to reject the extradition and free Dan.

He has now been locked up in maximum security for over 3 years and 10 months.

The only way Australian citizen Dan Duggan can be extradited to the US is for the Australian government to apply retrospective laws against him, a 2018 law being used for a 2012 alleged and denied action.

Daniel Duggan is an Australian citizen, who has been held in an Australian maximum-security prison for 3.5 years. There have been no Australian charges against him.
