A short film capturing a special Niuean tradition — the haircutting of 8-year-old Jairus Iti. More than just a haircut, it’s a rite of passage, a celebration of family, culture, and identity.
🗣️ “My hair has been a part of my life for eight years… and as my dad’s oldest son, I have to carry it on as my duty.”
Fakaaue lahi to Jairus and the Iti family for allowing me to be part of this beautiful moment. Let’s keep our voices and traditions alive. 💛

This wasn’t just an event — it was a heartfelt celebration of our Niuean culture and the mothers who guide, nurture, and uplift us.
To mark the end of their program, QNUC brought our community together for a special cultural showcase filled with song, dance, ukulele, and craft. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the event was a tribute to the incredible mothers in our lives — a reminder of their strength, love, and importance in our families and culture.
Fakaaue lahi QNUC for creating these spaces where our culture can thrive, and where all generations can connect, celebrate, and carry our identity forward.
Here’s a look back at some of the beautiful moments we shared 🤍

It was a privilege to capture such a beautiful Niuean tradition — a sacred rite of passage that holds deep meaning for our people. It reminded me of my own haircutting ceremony when I was young — the pride, the nerves, the love from family. These moments connect us to our ancestors and keep our culture alive. Grateful to have captured this special day for Jairus and his family. 🇳🇺

🌺 Celebrating Our Niuean Culture in Queensland 🌺

I witnessed something truly special — a beautiful showcase of our Niuean culture right here in Queensland. After six weeks of learning and connection, both our young ones and our elders came together to perform traditional dances, sing, play the ukulele, speak our language, and share in the richness of who we are as a people.
It was a powerful reminder of the strength, beauty, and pride that lives within our culture — and how important it is to keep that alive, even far from our island home.
A heartfelt fakaaue lahi to Queensland Niue United Community (QNUC) for creating these spaces where our culture can be taught, celebrated, and passed down. Through language classes, dance, craft, music, and more, QNUC is helping ensure that our cultural identity continues to live strong in the hearts of our community — from the youngest to our elders.
We are truly blessed to have this here in Australia — and even more blessed to call this culture our own.

I had the privilege of capturing a truly special moment for our Niuean community. We gathered together to welcome and meet the Niue High Commissioner, and the day was filled with so much warmth, pride, and connection.

This video captures the genuine smiles, the heartfelt conversations, and the cultural expressions that brought us all closer together. It was more than just an event—it was a reminder of the strength and unity within our community.

Take a moment to watch and share in the joy we experienced on this unforgettable day. 🌺🇳🇺
